I recently purchased a lyman turret press and lee dies to load 45 colt.Had been using a dillon sqdeal for many years but have had problems with the dillon not dropping accurate measures of powder{Not going into the problems now]I plan on using the turret so is all I need to set it up is the lyman # 55 powder measure.

Brother, it's not clear if you are making a statement or asking a question. If you are asking if all you need to do is setup the Lyman powder measure to reload on the Lyman press, then 'yes' that's all you need.

Generally, the Lyman powder measure is installed in one of the spare die holes in the turret so that the measure has a sturdy mounting position which will keep it from being knocked over. Other users might wish to mount the powder measure off to the side (similar to that shown below) using a Lyman or RCBS powder measure mounting bracket (an optional accessory). In this way they get full use of all 6 turret die positions. It's your choice based upon your reloading needs.

The big advantages of independent mounting are 1) being able to move the powder measure to the rear of the bench when not in use, and 2) making it much easier to pour the unused powder back into the can when reloading is finished.

Hope this helps.

I believe you need an adapter bushing to mount the Lyman D-55 measure. That's how it was with the Lyman Spar-T turret press of decades past.
