Powder/primer recomendations

I am about to start reloading for 7.62x54R and 8mm mauser. What powders and primers do you guys recommend? I am not interested in recipe's yet, I will start out with the minimum loading and work my way up. If you could post websites the carry the particular ammo (if you can find any) that would be great thanks.

p.s. my local gunshop carries a large selection of primers and powder on hand right now, I just want to know what to look for.

Almost any standard rifle primer will work well for both calibers. I like CCI primers best but I've used Winchester and Remington without issues.

As for powders there are several that will do a good job. For the most part any powder that will work well for the 30-06 will work well for the 8mm and 7.62X54R. Those include IMR4895, H4895, Varget, AA2495, IMR4064 and a few others. (Although the 7.26X54R is a little more picky than the 8mm) Depending upon what bullet weight you are going to use I happen to like the results I get from Ball C-2. (BL-C(2)) Like any other caliber you will get many answers to what the "best" powder is. For the most part all suggestions will be correct, especially for the person telling you and their rifle.

I like IMR-4895 but You can get good results with BL-C(2), Varget, H4895, and a few others.
