Anyone have any experience with Hogden HS-6 powder? I am gonna reload some shottie shells and the wad, hull combo I have shows HS-6 powder as the preferred powder on the Hogden website.

Here's the print on the powder as per the website.

HS-6â„¢ HS-6 is a fine spherical propellant that has wide application in pistol and shotshell. In pistol, 9mm, 38 Super, 40 S&W and 10mm Auto are some of the cartridges where HS-6 provides top performance. In shotshell HS-6 yields excellent heavy field loadings in 10 ga., 12 ga., 20 ga., and even the efficient and effective 28 ga. HS-6 is truly an outstanding spherical propellant. HS-6 is identical to Winchester's discontinued 540. Available in 1 lb. & 8 lb. containers

Just wondering if anyone had used this powder and its performance.

Thanks.

I used to use HS-6 in 357 mag and 45 acp,i found it pretty dirty in 45 and fairly clean in 357 with near max reloads and bullets over 140gr's.I use titegroup for 38spl,357mag,44spl,45colt and 45acp.Titegroup burns cleaner for me and and i can get more loads per pound compared to HS-6.

I've been using HS6 (7.0gr & 115gr FMJ) in my 9mm reloads for my Beretta 92FS and S&W 6906 for as long as I've been reloading (13+ years) with no complaints and no need to change.

I load HS6 only in 9mm but I buy it at the Trap & Skeet club where it it pretty popular for 20 gauge. Other than that, all I can say is, read the book.

I have used HS-6 for several pistol calibers and found it to be accurate but a little dirty. I did like the performance of it. I found it also measures pretty consistantly.
