I have a small quanity of IMR sr 7625 1/2 lb and sr 4756. I am looking for a use for these powders in my 22 hornet. The burn rates, though faster, are close to that of lil gun. I am not looking for the best loading for the hornet just a safe way to load a few rounds for casual shooting. Has anyone else re-invented the wheel?

Lyman #49 lists SR-7625 for use with a 55 grain cast lead bullet.
3.0 Start - 4.4 MAX.

This is a very small charge, and might present problems with stuck bullets if you were to try and use jacketed bullets.

Hodgdon/IMR shows no applications at all, for either powder, in the .22 Hornet.

So, I would believe them.

IMO: If it was going to work safely, they would list tested loads for it.

RC thanks for researching this, your knowledge and resourses are amazing. i am afraid keeping these powders around, will end up costing me alot more than they are worth, unless i can find a use.

SR 4756 is very position sensitive. It may not work well at all in the Hornet. It would not be one I would think to try in a Hornet.

SR 4756 is dandy in 9MM. (Full case)
