Powder Valley ...

Agreed this time the "New" site looks good. If I hadn't just bought a Kestrel I would buy something just to try it out. Great company to deal with in my opinion.

not gonna lie. web2.0 sucks. i'd much rather go back to the late 1990s
Wow, didn't know there was a name for it. I always thought of it as "purposely devolved so it works on a phone with a 4" screen".

to be fair, their old site sucked. the way they implemented cookies was completely stupid. and the links to their bullets/powder/primers/brass pages didn't work half the time. but when they did work, it sure was fast and easy to scroll down and find what you were looking for

It's a no from me dawg. Too bad, oh well, it wasn't like they asked anyone before changing.

I’ll admit I don’t have a long history with PV. I thought the previous site was clunky. Oh well. I will keep checking in regardless.

I still like the old site better. The new one looks nice but the old one is still easier to navigate.

Edit:
Oh darn, they changed the old site too!!! Hate that!

Updating sites is rough,
I’m about to update one for our business.

I liked the simplicity of what Powder Valley had, but the new one looks nice and has some improvements. So it’ll be fine

Prob getting a little off topic here but the old html was really just downloading a file and some images and your browser rendering it. In other words all the magic happened on the client side and you had control.
Now most sites don’t work like that at all. The server is in complete control and can change or pop up ads or do whatever and you have no control. Plus it takes forever to load. And you usually need to keep a connection. So you can’t go and view a site from your cache or save it for offline viewing easily. Drives me nuts cause I spend a day a week on airplanes.

So, did they do away with the old site all together?
I had it saved in my favorites and now it reverts to the "2.0".

Seems updated enough. They should consider a box to check to show only available powders. Spend too much time looking one up only to find its not available.

I just sent them this message ....

"
While I appreciate all the work you guys put into your web site( I know you had problems that needed to be taken care of) ... I just wanted to let you know ... I like the "OLD" Style format much better ... it was much easier to see what items that are in stock and what was not ... Please go back to the OLDER "Style" look as it served us folks that purchase much easier for us to do so ... Not everybody needs photos of every item that they purchase ...

Thanks"

If they would incorporate the by brands and maybe by lb. and what's available, that would be a vast improvement IMO. Sort of how Midsouth Shooters does their site.

I don't think they ever finished the old site. The new site is even less finished. At least it shows they are trying to update to the 21 century......for what that's worth.

IOW's click on something......you are lucky if they even have any information on the product listed. Jimkirk: photos for me make sure that what they are listing is the product I want. Sure much of the time there's no problem.....it's the times when what they call it doesn't match with what the Manufacturer calls it......and they send you something you didn't intend on ordering......done that. And yes, I was partly to blame since I didn't call them to make sure what was listed was what I wanted.

All that said, we probably ought to give them time to fill it up, tweak, and polish it. :) The RCBS site shows how NOT to do it. More than two years later and it's no further along. The direct order system they promised never happened....phone or email only! Though filling up an online catalog takes time....hopefully it won't take two years. I wish them well!

I emailed them and said that I liked the new site. Yes it needs a little polish. Like better filters. But its progress and these things are hard for small businesses to do. It can be expensive and time consuming when your already trying to build and keep your business going.

Just checked it out. I liked it better than old site. Worked fast and was easy to navigate. Haven't order anything from new site. I would assume that that will go smoothly. I hope.;):)

I just got a email back that said they maybe able to add a list to the site that is n't loaded down with photos .... Sort like the older way but with the problems removed ....

If I was ordering a women ... then photos would be a must .... but I know what IMR 7828 looks like so I more or less just need to know if is in stock of not .... Ymmv

midwayusa has by far the easiest to use site for searching, filtering results etc.
Yes, although they don't let you choose just pistol or just rifle bullets anymore, jut caliber. I don't like that at all. They have made a couple of changes that I don't like, but overall one of the best sites for searching/researching with good photos.

PV has a long way to go, but they are hard to beat on everyday price.
