Powders for high velocity 10mm

AA #7 is one I use alot of. Easy to measure ball. Actually, I have just finished up 8 lbs this year!?!

1300 with 155's should be easy to attain - sounds closer to a 40 sw load actually. Quickload says about 12.5 gr AA#7 should get you there. I think BluDot is too slow and bulky - you don't get the same velocity - but it will be close.

My plinking load is 11.5 gr #7 with a 170-180 Pb bullet: about 1100-1200 fps.

For some full power loads try IMR800x.

800X for heavy bullets and Power Pistol for lighter bullets. Neither one goes nasty in pressure like Blue Dot either. AA7 is very dirty.

The most power I have got out of 10mm is with a Glock 20, aftermarket Bar-Sto barrel for more case support, 1.3", 200 gr, 14.2 gr IMR800X. That is 82% over max published load. 800X meters poorly in my meters, and I have to weight each load.

Blue Dot is an excellent powder, but only 49% above published will fit with 200 gr. There is a flash.

Ramshot Enforcer = AA9 is an excellent powder, but only 19% more than published will fit with 200 gr.

Power Pistol is an exellent powder, and enough will fit to get the pressure up to the point of the primer falling out [in a barrel with good case support], but there is a flash at night.

3N37 will only fit a small amount above published with 200 gr, but it is low flash.

Don't know if you drop by www.glocktalk.com or not but they have a link dedicated to the 10MM and McNett (doubletap designer) does alot of work with various powders and bullet sizes.

I drop in there from time to time to see what's new in the reloading word according to the 10MM.

If you want to really get nasty then check out this 155gr load.

155gr GDHP 12.3gr 800X - 1465fps (G20), 1578fps (6"KKM)

You can also weed thru the different loads here as well

Needless to say, that forum has boo koo reloading stuff for the 10MM. I love Thehighroad and would never try to shove someone to a different forum but that one in particular has alot of reloading info for our beloved round.

800x, Longshot, AA7, AA9 are the usual subjects. I have worked with all of them in 10mm. I kind of like 800x the best for power, aa7 for general blasting.

Be advised, 800X doesn't meter worth a crap so be careful with it in any autodisc or equivalent. I use an RCBS Chargemaster for 800X or a dipper and trickler.

AA-9 meters great. Use it with 200+ gr bullets. Blue dot is pretty consistent but not as bad as 800X. Blue dot will give you the WOW flash and big boom.

I use Blue dot for 180gr range loads and 180gr Gold Dot personal protection and 800X with 200gr XTP's for field loads.

I like VV N105. Meters well and burns clean.

Roger this! VV 3N37 and N350 are also excellent propellants for the subject cartridge. I've used all three with exceptional results. Of course, I don't shoot 155-gr projectiles through my tens, but any three of the subject propellants will get 180-gr projectiles to move out at 1200 fps without even going over the published recommended maximum charges. As for the higher price you pay for these propellants, it's more than worth it if you want to achieve both high velocity and good accuracy whilst still remaining in bounds with regard to chambers pressures.

I say that for rifle or handgun, there aren't any propellants like those of the Vihta Vuouri brand! I just wouldn't use anything else personally.

Per one of McNett's recommendations, I use Blue Dot with 180 Speer Gold Dots. Best part was finding an 8# jug for $50....:D Lots of guys like 800X. Until I shoot up 8# of powder, I'm sticking with Blue Dot.

From McNett's recommendation and my experience, you can't fit enough Blue dot into a 10mm case to go over pressure. Even with my G20, I don't get any case bulge.

Let's just say the results are impressive. IIRC it chrono'd something like 1325.
