Just started loading 10mm for 2 gun I just bought. EAA Steel frame and a 1873 10mm!

AA#5 9.4gn 135gn frangible 1.300

That was my conclusion when I tried it. I have not tried 800x, though, but I hear they are discontinuing that powder.

Wait, what!?

That's been my go to powder for ten years or so. I can get 1250 fps with 180 grain Hornady XTPs out of my stubby little G29. Hornady says I could go faster but, given the short barrel I'm skeptical how much.

Well, I forgot my bag rest again! Made do with bracing my arms on a rubber rest and the bench, and shot at 25 yards. So accuracy was not stellar. Surprise, surprise.

However, I worked up the ladder using 5 shots each charge listed in my previous post. No over pressure signs, no excessive recoil (the G20 is far more mild than I anticipated). The first 5 shots with 8.5gr (top charge) looked mediocre, but I ran back through everything a second time, and slapped 5 more 8.5s on the same target.

Here it is.

Overall, 3-5/16" which is far from good. But the tight cluster of 6 shots is 1-3/16", which gives me hope. I'll load more, try and remember my bag next time, and toss some over the chronograph at the earliest opportunity.

I am getting a KKM barrel for my Glock 20 for christmas can't wait to load some hotter rounds. You guys that are loading hot with stock barrels in your glock have you had any bulge problems?

I ran 10 of the above load over the chronograph, but haven't been back to the range with the bag to better check accuracy.

Load recap: RMR 180gr FMJ-FN, 8.5gr BE-86, Starline brass, CCI 300 LPP, OAL 1.250-1.255".

Shots were take 15' from unit in 45F temperature, with a stock G20.

1218, 1207, 1227, 1223, 1215, 1225, 1218, 1213, 1221, 1221.

High: 1227
Low: 1207
Average: 1218
ES: 20
SD: 5

Not the load for highest velocities, and honestly I was a little disappointed. But the consistency is nice. 8.5gr is max by Alliant data. I'm not sure if it's worth going beyond it. I was hoping for 1250fps from that 4.6" barrel, but I have a KKM 5" inbound so I might see how much that changes things, if at all.
