When I first got into 10mm, I shot a lot of PPU. Here are the things you need to know:

1. It's certainly reliable, good quality ammunition in terms of functioning in a gun. I also found it quite accurate.
2. For 10mm, it's a very mild load. There is .40 S&W out there that is hotter. Makes it good for target shooting. I have no opinion or information about its terminal ballistics.
3. The brass is good until it suddenly isn't. After X reloads (where X seems to be variable), the brass loses all neck tension and setback becomes a BIG problem. If you're reloading PPU 10mm brass, you need to do a push test on every bullet after seating to make sure it won't set back. Other than that it's fine.

Nowadays, I only use Starline brass for 10mm. Its ability to be re-sized and used over and over and over again seems nearly endless.

I also use some PPU, but vastly prefer Starline even though I lose a lot of it from my 10mm guns.

As something to shoot? Its fine.... the brass, as was stated above, isnt really worth anything. Mine was devoid of neck tension after its INTIAL firing! But if you get some PPU cheap to shoot, its fine... a nice mild load, Id just treat it like blazer aluminum, shoot away, clean up casings.... throw away ( or recycle!) said casings.

Starline brass is great though!

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before I buy a used Delta Elite tomorrow.

Congrats on the Delta if you get it.

The shop carries ppu 10mm ammo and I need to know if this ammo is worth a hoot. I assume it is as I have had great luck with ppu in the past.

PPU's 10mm is crap 40-level ammo. Plus, it's dirty. Avoid it. There are way better off-the-shelf choices. Shot up two boxes of it, then pitched most of the brass as unsuitable for reloading. And I'm not the only critic of PPU's 10mm product. Do some research on boards like 10mmFirearms.com and GT's 10Ring, where 10mm fans post their experiences and reviews of 10mm-related stuff - ammo, guns, gear, etc. I've shot other calibers of PPU ammo before and all of it was fine, but PPU really dropped the ball on their 10mm product.

And remember, ... you're getting a 10mm Delta because, presumably, you want to shoot real 10mm ammo in it, not soft-n-fluffy 40-level fodder that's masquerading as a 10mm. If you only want to shoot at .40S&W velocities, skip the Delta altogether and buy one of the many pre-owned .40 pistols collecting dust on gunstore shelves.

I also intend to reload for this pretty lady so is it a good choice for brass?

Reloading for the 10mm will really open your eyes to the capabilities and versatility of this magnum-level auto cartridge. That said, again, the PPU brass is junk, like the ammo. I agree with the Starline brass suggestion. I've also had good experiences with cases by PMC, Winchester, & Federal.

Have fun!

PPU ammo is as good as any other mass production ammo. The brass is good for reloading. It holds up fairly well, until you get closer to max loadings. Starline brass is better but that was not the original question.

If you haven't shot a 10 much, especially in the field, your brass is going to go into the next area code. PPU shoots very well in my 10's, which are a Glock 20, a Para 6" and a Kimber 1911 GM. PPU is cheap, mild and you at least get what you pay for. Brass is so-so and you won't bother to look for it long if you are shooting in the field. Break in your pistol with some PPU and order some Starline to load... Enjoy.

I fired 15 boxes in G20s. No malfunctions and low recoil. I could feel some rounds had more recoil then others. I suspect there would be quite a variation in Vo if ammo was chronographed. While more expensive the PMC, Remington, American Eagle were very consistent in felt recoil from round to round. The Remington FMJ loads are hot to shoot because they produce more flash.;)

The ammo isn't bad for plinking, but with what i've heard about the brass, i don't even bother with saving it. As said Starline is best for re-loading.
