Does anyone know?

I have owned lots of Czech silvertip in this caliber (usually from the 60's). Today I went to buy some more and found some Czech ammo, same blue box, but with no silver stripe on it. Headstamped from '87. Not silvertip. Cases are different as well.

Is there any real difference in these two types of ammo?

I had those two types. The silvertip was usually lacquer-coated, while the non-silvertip was copper-plated or something like it. I got less problematic extraction from the copper-plated ammo, but easier feeding from stripper clips with the lacquer-coated. Other than that, I don't know much of a difference.

I'm about through my silver tip, and I've got a spam can of copper washed. I got it primarily because it doesn't have the sticky bolt problems, or so I've heard enough to believe.

Grimjaw,
How's the accuracy of the CW compared to the ST. I loved the ST accuracy and hope the CW is similar.

Thanks,
RT

I didn't shoot enough of it to be able to tell you how it grouped, and probably would have been different out of different rifles. The 65 rounds or so I tried all went bang, same with ST.
