i've been reading all the drills in the sticky but they're very handgun oriented. i'd like some practical rifle drills that would help me go faster for 3-gun competition.

i realize i can use these same drills largely unmodified, but i'm curious what changes you might make to some of them when using a rifle.

Dry:

Dry practice in front of television (safety and all that).

Holding positions for time (get timer, set for length of time, breath and relax into position).

Weight lifting with rifle, curls, military presses, etc.

Walk around house with rifle, make it part of you.

Practice mount and snap shot dry. As well practice bolt manipulation dry.

Load dummy rounds blindfolded.

Practice slinging and getting weapon from sling with weapon dry.

Live:

Shoot one, load one.

Position shooting.

If you live somewhere where you can, get out and run with the rifle.

Staple playing cards to target and have buddy call out which ones to shoot at, you can do this in all of the positions.

Above all, read Art of the Rifle by Jeff Cooper.
