Pre 64 Model 70

I have a 30-06 70 that came with a custom wood stock. I just got a Mcmillian stock. The problem i'm having is the magazine box doesn't fit. It's not flush with the stock, it sticks out at an angle. So the floor plate won't close. Is this something i can trim or do i need gunsmith to fit it?

Sounds like you got a modified magazine on the customized rifle, or the wrong McMillian stock for your rifle.

I would give them a call and see what they say.

Just remember the mag box on a pre-64 M70 inserts into the action a little bit and some are hard to insert.
Start the front in and squeeze the rear and push down and it more or less snaps in place
