"rumors"

Threadkiller,
I hate to tell you, but I think you are being misled by rumors. As the long time owner and shooter of M70's, pre-war, post war-pre-64 and current "Classic M70's", I can tell you that the current guns extractors are fine, with heat treated spring steel extractors. Sure, the pre 64 guns have a few more machined, non-essential parts, but the current guns are functionally fine. They generally shoot as well, or in some cases better than my beloved and much used pre-64's.

Sure, I love owning and killing things with my pre-64's, but I have MUCHO confidence in my 2 modern stainless M70's[ .308 and .375 H&H ]. Not everyone can find and afford Pre-64 guns, so lets don't scare new users from the best big game hunting gun currently availible, the Winchester M70. ;)
