any of you use 45 acp precision delta bullets ? How do they perform? Thinking about ordering some 230 grain FMJ..

I like 'em. Great price, very good quality . . . and they go where I point 'em. I'm using the 230gr FMJ in my Kimber Gold Combat II STS. Loading with 5.2gr of Bullseye and OAL of 1.265".

For liability reasons, I cannot recommend or endorse any load data I provide. I offer it only as data representative of what has been successful for me in my reloading adventures. Use at your own risk.

I have loaded thousands of them and intend to load thousands more. Great product at a great price and I have had great service from the folks at PD.

I suggest you call to order

I ordered some 9mm bullets from P Delta, waited awhile, then e-mailed them about delivery.
The response was "4 weeks or longer" and it has now been the "or longer" part.
I also read elsewhere that Delta's 9mm machinery was broken:uhoh:.

I will call next time and suggest you do the same...and ask about delivery.

I've shot almost 2k of the 115gr FMJ, and have 4k more in the closet, in addition to 1k 124gr I have not tried yet.

My only complaint is that the ogives are fairly inconsistent, but it hasn't been enough to affect performance in any meaningful way for me as long as I'm seating them deep enough to keep the longest ones off the front of the mag. I've only seen this with the 9mm RN; I also have 2k 180gr .40's that are very consistent in terms of shape.

Yes there is some wait time, but there is with most components these days. If you can find FMJ for less, I'd like to know about it.

I'm still waiting for handloading to fix ammo availability problems for me, as I so often hear that it does. They did call me to let me know their 124gr equipment was down and it might be a while. I've gotten into the habit now of just ordering a few months before I will need it; that keeps gaps in my supply down to a minimum for now.

Precision Delta projectiles are great! The prices are great too! The wait kind of sucks so plan accordingly. When you are down to 1k loose projectiles or less, I would place the order asap.

Their 115gr fmj and their 230gr fmj are awesome. Accurate and my cartridges even look factory loaded.

I challenge anyone to find a better price on the market right now for 230gr FMJ or 115gr fmj. Montana Gold comes very close but you have to buy 4000 projectiles to get close to Precision's 1k price.

I used to use PD bullets then they played the 4 weeks or longer game with me. I started using Zero brand bullets and haven't looked back. They are basically the same price and you only have to buy em 1000 at a time to get free shipping. I order from here http://www.rozedist.com/

ny32182:
Thanks for the info.

Maybe once I order as many bullets as you, I'll be on their A list and get a personal phone call about delayed delivery.

I recently moved and reloaded every 9mm bullet I had before breaking down the load bench.
I have since moved, shot them all, built another bench and now I'm waiting for the bullets from PD:uhoh:
I'm spoiled by MBC delivery (3-5 days) but wanted to try jacketed.

Much longer and I'll "bite the bullet" and order some MBC bullets.;)

I just order a few months before I need them. The first time around I waited months; it sucked, but that was the nature of the beast then even more than it is now. I've bought a total of 9k bullets, ever, from PD... I'm not a high volume buyer; trust me.

Those Zero bullets look nice, but are ~$12 more per thousand. One thing I've learned from the availability issues is order ahead of time and your life will be easier. Since I've got my "pipeline" stocked by now, there is no current rush for me and I will just go with the cheapest option. When I'm getting "low" (1-2k left for me) I will order again, and they will be here before I run out.

Just a quick followup on delivery times for Precision Delta products . . .

I placed an order for 6,000 .45 230gr FMJ bullets on Wednesday, July 7 and they were waiting for me on my front porch Saturday, July 10.

My first order from them a couple months ago took 3 weeks (and they were quite up-front about how long it would take). Imagine my surprise when my 2nd order took just 3 days!

I ordered 1000 230 gr 45 and 1000 115 gr 9mm on Monday 7-12 and they were on my doorstep Wed 7-14. No complaints on the turnaround. I still don't understand how they can sell quality jacketed rounds for less than the other guys sell raw/plated lead.

Anyone have feedback on quality for these guys. I have not loaded any yet, I want to use up what I already have onhand before I load and shoot the new stuff.

I use PD bullets in my 9mm, 38 Super, 40 S&W and my 45 ACP.
Why anyone would buy plated bullets that are slightly higher in price is beyond me.
If I am not shooting cast, I shoot the FMJ from Delta or Roze Dist.

ny32182: Maybe it's unusual, but I used several thousand of the 124fmj that were good. I ordered again and had serious differences in total length and ogive. I complained to PD and provided measurements of 50 bullets, and they sent me another 1K free, and said I was probably sent the 'culls' at the end of the QA line.

The 1K they sent me free had close to the same bullet length deviations.

I've never ordered again.

Zero and MG have never come close to the length differences of the 124PDs I recieved from PD.

My local reloader who supplies the region of Bullseye shooters used to use Precision Delta. He decided that Zero Bullets were better.

I haven't seen Delta on the line in a while.

Frankly, I believe PD to be the best 9mm bullet I've every shot.

However, Tilos is correct. Call your order in and ask for a delivery date. I ordered 2000 bullets last June, called again in September to check in and they told me "maybe February". They make a great bullet, but they are not too big on proactive communication. You have to call them to track your order. Sending out email updates is, unfortunately, not in their play book.

I've had a couple boxes of 115's with the OAL/ogive deviations. My last order of 4k, they are all uniform. For my purposes (IDPA) I can't tell any performance difference. For Bullseye accuracy maybe there is. I just finished shooting up the deviating ones.

I've had PD delivery times range from days to rfwobbly's experience of 8 months or so. I THINK they make things in batches, so if they've just run out of 230g FMJ (for example) when you order it may be months before they run that bullet again, in which case you get a long wait. The 9mm delays we had last year sound like something more - maybe the broken machinery ny32182 mentioned (my delay was on 124g FMJs.)
