Does anyone think the price of .223 will go down after we leave Iraq? Also, will 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 prices go up after surpluses dwindle? If so, when? I'm looking into getting another semi-auto and I'm trying to take future ammo prices into consideration. I know that no one can see into the future, but any insight would be appreciated.

ALOT of things depend on whether or not we get out of the middle east. A wartime economy is much different than a peacetime ecomony. Ammo prices may very well go down after we leave, but it won't be because the military is using less of it. It'll just be a swing in the economy in general.

new ammo? doubtful. it might come down a bit, but won't ever see the good ol' days of half to a quarter of current prices.

however, i am optimistic that some years after leaving iraq, we will have a lot of demilled components back on the market cheap for reloaders.

well many who bought a house the last 3 or 4 years thought their house would only go up in value, same with many who just stayed without selling.......houses and land never go down in value right?,unless they build a nuclear dump in your hood.

Since I sold my house last year in Miami my old neighborhood has dropped 100k in value.

So I won't speculate on ammo,or anything as to where the prices go.
