Ok folks, not sure if this needs to be in Accessories or Competition or here, so Mods feel free to move this to wherever it most likely fits!

I just recently decided to fully switch out one of my 1911A1's to a more target oriented gun. The GI slide has been replaced with a forged steel aftermarket one with front/rear/top serrations, and it has a 65degx.330" dovetail front sight cut and the Novak low profile rear sight cut. I need to get a pair of sights for this setup.

What do most folks ever use for Competition shooting, or just more target shooting with a 1911? I personally don't like the 3 dot as it is just to much to line up, the Novak website has a horizontal Bar rear sight with a dot front, but the bar is tritium...

What other options are there, and what seems to be a good move for a gun that will start out just target practice at the range, but could very well be used for various events?

My IDPA guns have fibre optic front sights - I like red, many prefer green - and plain black rear sights.
I bet Novak would sell you such a set.
If I had that slide, I would buy a Heinie sight made to fit the Novak rear cut and a Brazos Lightning Rod fibre optic front. If you want a finer sight picture, the Dawson fronts are also good.

I prefer plain black rear sights and highly visible fronts. Pick up a few handguns, find a front sight that's eye catching and put one like it on your pistol. That's what I did. :)

Just checked out a few of those sites for sights, the Dawson's do look pretty nice on the fronts, they have a Novak lo-pro rear with the serrations that look something like the Heinie sights... but with the Novak cut... what really sets the two apart?

I'll probably go fiber optic regardless for the front, but of course the color... how well do you find that the sight picture works for you without any rear sight markings? Normally you only focus on the front sight/target and trigger pull, but it has always been stuck in my head to line up those 3 dots...

I have Dawson, they are great, they have a big selection, and there prices are in decent as well.
