I am new to S&W revolvers, have only a M19 4" so far, but would like to add more. Started adding today when I found this Model 28-2 4" Highway Patrolman at a local store. P&R, about 90%, blue is in good condition, just not a very deep luster to the coloring. Grips are in very good condition with no marks or chips, just a little dry. Paid $300 OTD.

Question... serial number on bottom strap is N179##... and under the cyclinder latch it looks like N189##? Is that possible and if so, what does that mean?

Overall, how did I do. I went in looking for a 9mm 225 SIG, came out with another .357 and a Browning A5 sweet sixteen needing love.....oh well.

Great guns!!! Seems a very fair price too.

I'll post pic of mine below - one I got pre-owned from a member here. It has had hammer bobbed, trigger job and chamfered chambers. It was my carry for a while coupla years ago - and still could be again. Trigger? Butter!!!

Hmmm - well the first number - probably 1972-74 seems to fit. Not so sure re the other number - almost as if a ''typo''! Even that figure tho would seem to fit same time bracket.

Old Fuff? - What say you? Hoping he drops by!

yep

dont know what that different serial number means ... but s&w says the official serial is the one on the bottom of the strap.

"Butter" trigger you say. This one has a very light SA, but the DA is absolute rubbish. VERY strong and long. Going to get some work done on it once I relocate in a few weeks. Still, I am very happy with the find. Cant wait to wring it out sometime next weekend. Plus, how do you like those CT grips on it?

Surprised even the std DA is poor - but maybe it also just needs a lotta shooting yet!!!

The CT's I like a lot - have three sets on revo's and three sets on semi's - all my SIGS. They don't suit everyone but I do find they feel good - plus of course their primary benefit!

Congratulations, on the new to you N-frame.

That size frame has quickly be come my favorite size to collect, especially in barrel lengths of 5" or less. The proportions are just right to me.

Great Gun!

I currently use my 28 as my daily carry, mostly because I am 100% confident in its use. I have the 4" barrel as well. Seems the perfect size for control and accuracy.

Mine still has the hammer spur, though. I am sure you will enjoy yours for a LONG time to come.
