Hi all, I'm running a pistol match at DFW Gun this coming Wednesday.
If you're looking to get a few rounds off, please consider coming out and
joining us; we'd love to have you there! Thanks, -davidr

The Presidential Match - Wed April 28th, 6-8:30pm, DFW Gun Range
----------------------------------------------------------------

Pistols, Prizes, and Presidential Candidates!

Celebrate your election year with The Presidential Match, a shoot
and social at DFW Gun Range, 6-8:30pm, Wed April 29th. You can win
over $500 in prizes, including a S&W 22S target pistol and machine
gun rentals!

All shooters are entered into the prize raffle, and prizes are
awarded for high score. The prize chest is bulging, so contestants
have a great chance of winning something! Prizes include:

- A S&W 22S target .22 pistol, 6" barrel, in stainless steel
- SureFire flashlights
- Free week of Krav Maga self-defense classes
- Free machine gun rentals
- Free Concealed Handgun License class
- A special trip to shoot a .50 caliber BMG rifle (graciously donated
by Johnny Stout of Ballistic Performance)
- Cash prizes
- Silver bullion (generously donated by Discount Silver Club,
www.discountsilverclub.com)
- Shooting training videos
- ... and more donated prizes are being added all the time.

Also, match shooters get $5 off handgun rentals, and refreshments
are provided for shooters and non-shooters alike, so come join
us! And there will be a special "Pocket Rocket" round with its
own prizes at 7:00p too, so bring your backup gun or rent one
- see the rules below.

Presidential Candidates Shooting the Match!
-------------------------------------------
We will have two candidates for President of the United States
on the premises - no fooling! Michael Badnarik and Gary Nolan have
both crisscrossed the country for a year and a half, campaigning
agaist each other for the Libertarian nomination for President (the
nomination is decided in May and the winner appears on American
ballots in August). You may have seen them on the amazon.com
Presidential Donation page. Both are going to be in Texas on the
28th and have agreed to shoot the match. They've both amassed some
amazing stories. If you want to know what it's like to live in hotels
for a year on the campaign trail and appear on CSPAN, they can
tell you! Hey, how often do you actually get to shoot with a
Presidential candidate? Bring a camera, because your chance has
come :)

Range Fees and Rules
--------------------

The range fee to shoot the Presidential Match is $20 for the first
string, and $10 to shoot each subsequent string. Shooters can shoot
as many strings as they like; each string is 50 shots, and each time
you shoot, you are entered into the prize raffle. Prizes are also
given for high scores. A portion of each range fee goes to collect
the signatures required for the nominated Libertarian candidate
to appear on the August Presidential ballot (donations do not go
to either candidate).

Each match string is a 50-shot course of fire, roughly similar to
GSSF match rules. You can bring your own pistol and ammo or rent one;
range guns must use range ammo. Pistols must be caliber
.380 or larger (except for the "Pocket Rocket" round, see below).
Race guns, optical scopes, lasers, and red-dot/holosights are not
allowed, but customized handguns are ok. Bring your favorite gun,
or try out one of DFW Gun Range's rental guns at a reduced price.

Special "Pocket Rocket" round
-----------------------------

For the special "Pocket Rocket" round at 7pm, pistols can be .32
cal or larger, and must have a 3.5" or less barrel. Keep a steady
eye and hang on tight!

For more information, contact David Rostcheck at
[email protected], or 214-707-1004. We hope we'll see you
there!

Please help us circulate this notice to appropriate lists. Thanks!

So what are the GSSF match rules?

When I saw "Presidential Match" and "Dallas" I thought this was going to be a match where the competitors have eight seconds to shoot three shots with Mannlicher Carcano. :uhoh:

GSSF Rules

GSSF (Glock Shooting Sports Foundation) rules specify a course of fire for indoor matches. There's nothing special about it, it's just a specific course of fire. DFW Gun is the local GSSF league range, so people who shoot there frequently may be familar with them. Here's a link: http://www.gssfonline.com/league/leaguecourseoffire.htm

Wow, I'm so jealous I didn't think of that first. I'm going to have to rip that idea off sometime...
