Hey guys, first time posting, long time lurker. Nice to find a friendly forum that isn't filled with trolls!

I'm in the market for a Kel-Tec P-11, new or used. I've seen prices all over the place, would just like to know what I should look for, any particular style, finish, or serial number, etc.

Can anyone assist?

Its just my opinion, but I'd pay slightly more than market value for a P-11 if I really want one. Only because it shares mags with my S&W. Then if I can find a Sub2K, set up for S&W 59 series mags, I'd be set.

But if I were just in the market for a new pistol, the P-11 would not be my first choice.

Having said that, I'd pay no more than $250, maybe $300 for a P-11, depending on how many mags I'd get with it.

Thanks for the info! I would probably follow by getting those S&W 59 series mags, and I eventually want to get a carbine, the sub2k seems like an excellent choice. This is for a conceal-carry. I've done my research and asked around and this is what I'd like to buy! It's small enough to fit in my back pocket with a pocket holster, it has a decent capacity (15 rounds extended isn't too bad for a CCW, and I will be carrying spare 15-rounders) and I plan on doing some machining work with my uncle to improve the quality, like a metal grip, for instance. I understand it's like putting $2000 rims on a $1000 car, but I like little projects like this.

Bought my P-11 for $249, but that was like a couple of years ago. With the two 15 round S&W 5900 mags, the price was still under 300, but you'll probably also need wolff +10 springs for those mags (I did, anyway) and grip extensions from Keltec. Once you've done that, it'll be hard to beat the firepower/concealability ratio of your P-11, at any price.

I got my P-11 when I installed a new toilet for a lady several years back. Her husband had died a couple of months before that and she asked me if I wanted to look at his guns. I wound up buying 2 other handguns and a rifle but at the time I knew absolutely nothing about KT so took it for the work.

I now carry the PF9 more than the p-11 but still shoot the 11 quite a bit. You should be able to find one in pawn shops for the $250 range and KT will take care of any problems.

Thanks for the tips with the springs! Any tips on the trigger at all? I figure I probably wont mess with it due to the lack of safety, but it doesn't hurt to know!

The trigger is attrocious! Supposedly the guns with serial numbers beginning with the letter A are the better triggers, which mine is. Not sure if there's a real fix, besides buying a PF9 instead, but having a complete understanding of double action triggers and a lot of regular practice will make you proficient. Don't settle for being a relatively poor shot with this gun. It's not inaccurate at all, but it is extremely unforgiving of poor trigger control. Mine has been very reliable and accurate, but it takes more focus than most of my handguns, including my double action revolvers.

I paid $260 for mine with 3 magazines and an IWB holster. It was slightly used.

Sold one recently for $225.00 with one ten round magazine. Was in very good condition, and was asking $300.00 with four magazines. The buyer offered $225.00 with one magazine, and I took it. Sold the other three magazines for $50.00 to another person.

The only thing I've done to my trigger is use it. It will definitely get easier with use, but the pull will still be long. If you want to alter it, go to KTOG (keltec owner's group) site for recommendations.

On those S&W 5900 series mags, according to KTOG, you must use original S&W mags...others are less reliable.

P-11 Trigger

While it is not enjoyable to shoot 50 or more rounds per range session through it, my P-11 has been utterly reliable and has much better than average accuracy for such a short barrel.

The only pistol I have with a longer / harder trigger pull is a Radom P64.

Besides shooting and cleaning it, I have done nothing to it other than one helpful modification: I installed a cut-to-fit piece of black electrical 'shrink wrap' tubing on the trigger. That slight cushioning made a big difference to me.

Skip the P11. The trigger pull is so darn long, you have to pull it all the way back for the sear to release. This prevents fast follow up shots. Recoil is unpleasant. And yes I had one.

Rather, have a look at a Kahr of some flavor.

P11

I've owned both the PF9 (3) and the P11 (1). I much preferred the PF9 as it has less recoil and a better trigger. Don't ask me HOW it has less recoil as I can't explain it. However, that was my perception. I really like the PF9's, and really dislike the P11's. Just my opinion and your mileage may vary.

P-11's in my area run between $250-300 new. I saw a used one at a pawn shop for $200 a few months ago.

I've never owned one, but held one for inspection at a LGS. Decent pistols for the price, but I would get a PF9 or a Taurus 709Slim instead (personal experience and opinion only).
