My father in law is about to get taken for a ride I believe, so I wanted to check with the guru's around here before I go spouting off at the mouth.

Some guy at the golf course has a G21 Commemorative Edition 'America's Heros' 9-11.

It's engraved on the right side of the slide with the insignias for the police and fire department and only 1000 of each flavor was made. (I don't know how many flavors, but can assume 9, .40 & .45)

The guy wants $1800 for it.

I think I remember seeing them for under a grand at a few places, but my memory can't be trusted here.

Anyone have any thoughts??

I saw the Beretta model 92 special editions in stores, right alongside the normal 92's, selling at the same price. And not moving.

Never saw any of the Glock ones though. I'd assume the same story with those, though.

Way Overpriced!

Heres on that was on Gunbroker 2 weeks ago for $679 and no one bid on it.

Is the 9-11 edition any better than a normal G21?

Unless you want it for collector value why pay that much for it? You can buy a standard G21 for a whole lot less. You could almost buy two perfectly fine Glocks for the price of that one and two is always better than one anyway!

What type of Glocks are you buying?

True you could actually buy three for $1800...

The average new price I see on G21's is around $600, the question is what do want to get out of the gun you are buying.

Just take the slide to an engraver and put 9-11 or whatever you want on it.

I had an engraver outside Ft.Campbell engrave rifles and pistols with names, unit crests, and the 101 Division patch for $50 each back in the 90s.

If your father-in-law buys that gun for $1,800 he will spend about $1,210 more than it is worth. It is a Glock: a tool--a hammer, or a shovel, and it is not considered a collectible by anyone except three guys who live on golf courses and come out only at night.

On the other hand, if your father-in-law does buy that gun for any price more than $590, his collection will not be complete unless he also acquires a 911 shovel, pickaxe, police whistle, and several other collectors items as well.

Each of those collectible itsems are available exclusively from me at the very reasonable price of $1,600 each.
