As for an FFL saying that the gun is used, etc., without physically examining it is a bit of a stretch.

Thank you for observation and I appreciate your advise. Its hard for me tell without the gun in hand if its new. I read where a gun can be shot as much as a box of shells before leaving the factory.

To clear up any confusion.I have since read on the Smith and Wesson forum all Smith and Wesson revolvers were fired every other cylinder from the factory. This is coming from self claimed experts. I have since bought a 19-5 Smith .357 in blued steel from Gander Mountain last week for 599.00 so I think I got a good deal. I am still looking for a new in the box nickel model 19 Smith and Wesson revovler. The gun I bought from gander mountain shows no evidence of firing on any of the cylinders ? Could this gun not have been test fired ?
What a learning process gun collecting has become. I think I do better just sticking to my Rugers.
