Hi, folks. I need a price check, please.

A friend has a Winchester 101 O/U Trap shotgun, 12ga., 30" barrels choked F/F, Monte Carlo stock, nice woodwork, lovely tight lock-up. Overall, about 95% condition, I'd say. He wants to sell it. I've seen these guns priced anywhere from the high hundreds (for field models with shorter barrels) up to multiple thousands for the high grades.

I figure a Trap model with its longer barrels would be worth in the $1200-$1500 range. Do you think this is reasonable? If not, please post here with what you think is a better figure.

Also, if anyone wants it, PM me - I'll give THR members a crack before he lists it independently. :D

Many thanks.

I have been tracking selling prices on these since about February. There are several grades of 101. I have seen prices from 680$ for plain field gun to 1200$ for Diamond grade trap with a little wear.

I have since decided to delay purchaseing one until I average 23/25 at the 16yd line. I would EWAG 1100$ on a 95+% Diamond grade.

With fixed chokes and if it has the blued receiver I would say in the $800-$900 range. I've seen a few go for cheaper and a few go for more.

Usually the diamond grades get up there, especially the guns with the Winchokes in them.

If you can secure some pics, I might be interested. :)

Also, 30" barrels are not as sought after as 32" barrels and F/F is not as sought after as F/IM. :)

I looked at a minty 20ga field with skeet wood on it for 1K. It was really nice and I did not feel it was overpriced. I understand they are made by Nikko in Japan but are fine shotguns in my opinion. Every bit as good as a Citori (also made in Japan).

I asked around yesterday, Preacher. Estimates ran $1000-1200. No one was interested, sorry. I'll keep trying....
