Would $570.00 be too much for a "slightly used" Norinco 1911, all original. No box? Seller stated is 90% 'CAUSE NO BOX. I thought that didn't affect condition, only overall value. Pls. advise. Thanks!
Three most recently completed auctions on GunBroker.com ranged from $410 to $425 to $450.
Several currently listed for $500 or more have been sitting with no bids.
Of course those "SOLD" prices don't include shipping/insurance/FFL Transfer Fee. Which makes them ~ $475 - $500 guns. Naturally, prices also vary by region.
So...Yes the one you describe is overpriced.
On the other hand, Norincos (like the Argentine 1927 Colts and Sistemas) are all-steel, quality 1911 clones of which there are a finite supply. They used to be $295 entry level import bargains. Nowdays they are sought after and I've not seen one for sale for below $350-$400 for quite some time. Prices will continue to rise.
Offer $450 (if the gun is in really nice shape). If you really want it, go to $500.
In the long run, you are talking beer/gas money ($50).
Thanks! I'm gonna ask the dealer if he'll come down. Let me ask you something else, pls. There is another one on GB, "never used," no mention of box, cheaper. It has a finger grooves on front of the grip. Is that original?
Do a search. There was a thread just a few days ago om Norinco values.
No finger groove grips are not stock in most cases. Try your local gun show.
and 1 more thing. You can get a NIB Rock Island Armory 1911 for under $400 if you look carefully. It will have a warranty and they are shooters. I just purchased one. I have also owned a Norc in the past.
Are you kidding? Norks are one of the preeminent firearms of our time! Their fit and finish is matched by none... You should also note that every part is machined from forged bar stock!
A good Norinco 1911 will be worth over a grand within a few years!
Thank You for indulging my curiosity colemanw. I had a Norc with upgrades. It shot very well. Never owned a Colt. Though I am sure they are outstanding firearms.
The reason I ask is because I believe others should know that there are 1911's out there that shoot very well and cost way under $500.
That is what my Norinco cost me, actually a Glock 26 + accessories and $100. I regret selling it. Needed the dough at the time. If I ever run into it again I would gladly buy it back. It was more reliable than my current 5", a Springfield Operator.
The funny thing is that neither of those pistols, a Springfield LW operator and a Custom build on a Norinco frame have been as reliable as my box stock RIA compact. At least so far...
I have been thinking about an RIA for a while. i have heard many good things... thought I might get one ans an under the seat pistol, after I swap out a few key parts with bar stock
Thanks again fellas! I passed on the Norinco 1911 for $599.00 & just sent payment on one for $470.00. A M1911A1, "new gun - never fired," supposedly, at least by seller. I don't know about the finger grooves on the grip. Is that original? Can it be removed if so desired? Could you guys pls. take the time to check it out on GB and let me know? Just type in 122420745 & scroll down to picture. Thank-you! Help out a fellow gun lover!
