Okay, I've finally found it. I have been wanting either a Remington 870 Tactical or an 1100 tactical. I already know where I can get the 870. I've finally found the 1100 tactical. It's the same OD green color, has the speedfeed IV stock (full buttstock and pistol grip with R3 pad on the back) and the extended/over-sized operating handle. Apparently, the shop bought a few of these when they first began to come out in this "new" configuration and OD green color. Price is $575.95. I looked on the Remington website and saw the same model's MSRP was over $800. Is this a good "real" price? I figure it is, but would like feedback. In case your wondering, no this is not for any type of competition. I will train/practice with whichever weapon I buy and use it for defense. I expect reliability, even with lower recoil loads. Good buy? Eventually I'll have both a pump and a semi-auto. While I've had several Mossbergs (and liked them), I have been wanting Remington and would love to have a semi-auto. Opinions welcome. Warning about potential trouble spots definitely welcome.

Yes, I know Benellis are just awesome. I still can't reconcile myself to the idea of spending over a grand for a semi-auto shotgun though. Not right now, anyway. I'll use that much dough for a good rifle/carbine, such as an AR.

Good used 1100's can be found for much less than the price you mention. However, if you are stuck on having the green tactical look of the gun, then looks like you found your prize! Just do us all justice and shoot it a lot! :)

Those would be field guns though. To get a riot style setup you probably would have to add at least another $200-250 worth of parts (the shorter barrel and mag extension). I would definitely feel comfortable paying $575 for a new 1100 set up in such a configuration.

Milkmaster,

If I could have found one around here, used and in reasonable condition in the setup I prefer (defense-whether it be home or elsewhere-riot style) then I'd gladly take the route you mention. I'm not stuck on the color, I assure you. I'd prefer all-black, but it's not like I can't have the gun redone or anything. So, for band new, this is the best deal I've seen. Checked out gunbroker.com just for referrence shortly after starting this new thread. It appears I'm doing okay price-wise.

Zinji,

Thanks. It is indeed the style of the gun that I'm looking for. I didn't want anything more than the typical 18.5" or so. The 22" version has a higher capacity, vent rib barrel, and hi-viz sight, but the extra cost doesn't seem to be worth it. Besides, I didn't want the longer barrel.

To get an idea of fair retail price, I check out what they are going for on www.gunbroker.com, www.auctionarms.com, www.budsgunshop.com, www.gunsamerica.com, and www.ableammo.com. Then I usually check I couple of the local shops.

Based on those shops, it looks like a pretty good price. Keep in mind that the OD green is discontinued. If your heart is set on that color, you might want to pick it up sooner than later. That said, there seems to be no shortage of OD ones now.

Edited: You snuck in as I was posting. It looks like you aren't set on the OD and would prefer all-black. In that case, all the ones from this year are coming out in black. If you shop around, you can probably find a good deal on one of those.

Yeah, the color is okay...It's the price that has me looking hard. Think I'll go pick it up today. Worse case scenario, I'll just have it re-done in black sometime.

I either miswrote my comment or it was misinterpreted. What I meant was that if you was sold on the riot look and setup (including the green color) then the model you spoke about was a good price. The way you descirbed it, I was reading the model you picked out already had the tacticool setup on it.

Yes as was pointed out by zinj, the model I described was for a used field gun if you did not care if it was set up with anything as in a riot pistol grip or something like that. Different folks want it different ways.

I have a solid black model myself and also have the Trap Classic. Both good ones!
