If I could afford one...

I would rationize it as being for investment purposes because both myself and my family would think I was crazy for spending thousands of dollars for a hunk of 20 year old metal.

Of course, considering I could never help myself from constantly buying ammuntion to keep it well fed, it wouldn't be much of an investment. :D

I stand by what I said. No one with over 20 grand invested in a machinegun can ever truly support repeal of the 86 and other laws- oh, they might say they do, but if magically they had a secret choice between a) having the unconstitutional bans repealed and b) having it stay and the guns they got getting even more valuable, with no one ever knowing what they chose to make happen, they'd choose b. No exceptions. Greed and elitism cloud minds.

A) Buy to invest and profit obscenely
B) Support the 2nd amendment
C) Not be a hypocrite

Pick two.

Two of my MGs are currently in the $15,000 range and I'd be delighted to see the '86 ban go away. I don't give a hoot about the money. There are a truck load of machineguns I want and the .gov won't let me have any of them.

How is making a wise investment going against the 2nd amendment? Is it my fault the weapons are going up in value?

You claim to be such a strong 2nd amendment supporter yet you want the government to control gun prices? And then you say MG owners are hypocrites? "Uh hello, pot? Yeah this is kettle................."

According to your profile you're not even old enough to own one anyway, so why all the angst? Start saving now and when you turn 21 you can plunk down the cash and get your own.

There is nothing I would like better than for the 86 ban to be lifted. I would love to have a ton more class III weapons. But until the time it gets lifted or form 1's start getting approved I am going to continue enjoying my weapons without the least bit of guilt for buying at the right time. :D

P.S. I have nowhere NEAR $20,000 grand invested.

*tap tap*

The needle on the irony detector is a lil off for ya :p

I don't seriously want the Gov't to control prices. Although if they're going to artificially control something by banning additions to the market pool, they may as well take steps to ensure the market pool retains a reasonable price.

Like I said, people who shoot for fun and the joy of owning a full auto weapon are fine. It's the people who plan on making millions by buying up the HKs, etc, and waiting ten years who stand to lose a fortune if any of the bans expire.

They're the ones who deep down want the ban to stay- because it's going to make them money. :barf:

C'mon guys, show a little Christmas spirit. Maybe the Supreme Court will leave a nice big gift under our tree, in the form of an invalidated 922(o). Then we can ring in the new year with dozens of Form 1's as we convert our AR's. Yeah, I know, the chances of a Stewart ruling that favors the 2nd Amendment is remote, but I'm holding off on my current batch of SBR forms until we get a decision... I'd rather register a machinegun. :)

Are they actually going to even hear this case? If they don't, then doesn't the lower courts ruling stand and so even though they've ruled favorably that still means the ATF keeps doing things the way it's doing them right now.
