Is $40 dollars a good price to get Pmags a LGS had several in stock for $40 I was resistant in purchasing any.

I honestly wouldnt pay more than $15. If you already have 2 or 3 mags, just keep it at that until all this settles down. its the panic buyers that do these things to prices. Im happy I had the foresight to buy up 8 aluminum GI mags back in october. I saw this day coming a while back.

Easy to say when you have mags......

I have plenty of AR mags and the most of them are P mags but to tell someone to wait with all this stuff happening is foolish in my opinion. A assault weapon ban has passed already, I was alive and a shooter during that that time and I won't forget the infringement of the last one.

It's happens before and it will happen in the future with out a doubt. Call me a fear monger if you will but I have nothing to sell. Don't forget the past!!!! Please

f you need some then it is better than $60 or $75 apeice. If you don't need them then it is not a good price.

Picked these up a couple days ago at my local sporting goods store. Tapco's were $10.99 and the PMags were $13.99 for the black and $14.99 for the FDE window version...

I feel sorry for all the people who are getting into gun ownership right now out of fear. If (when) prices come back down, many of them will be completely turned off by the amount of money they lost. What I really feel bad about them and the current price of magazines, is that they buy their first gun and then they generally have to pay 2x-4x the price of what the mags were just a few weeks ago.

I just ran into this situation, myself, this afternoon. I was tempted to purchase a Mini-14 back in November, but was hellbent on finding a Colt 6450. I went back to the store, and the Mini-14 was the exact same price as it was in November, and at the same price....so I bought it. It only came with one 5-round magazine, and I was debating on buying a 10+ round mag now or waiting. I lived through the AWB and watched new Glock 17 mags go from $20 to $90-$115 and stay there for years. I decided to spend a little more money for the "now factor", found someone with some 20-rounders in stock, and bought two of them. If the prices come down, I'll buy more later....

I still have many unused mags for other guns from '94 that I have never used and, in some cases, never opened. Matter of fact, I believe I have a couple of unfired guns I bought just before the AWB and prices skyrocketed (like a "new" $199 Norinco MAK-90). THIS is not the time to just start getting the gun-bug.

Might as well just wait this out. The ammo shortage will probably be terrible and last over a year, and rifles will be out-of-stock for another year or so. But mag prices always come down first.

Once this all dies down and no laws pass (likely the case if the only effort is through executive order that cannot actually abridge anything past import and taxing that can be challenged in court), things will go back to normal.

Is it the old price? No.

Is it a fair price? Maybe.

A few weeks ago they sold for 12 to 16 bucks depending on if they had the window or not. But we no longer have the same landscape we had then. It is a real possibility that 30 round magazines could be illegal to purchase before you find any trading for $15 again.

You could wait for a chance to get them again at $15 in the future and run the risk of them becoming illegal before you ever see that price.

Or you could pay the current market price to ensure you get what you want.

It's up to you to determine how much you are willing to pay for a 30 round pmag.

The last ones I saw at the local gun stores here were being sold for $75 a piece...and they sold everything they had.

More like $12, and I personally wouldn't pay more than $15.

+1. I think I paid $13 and change for the seven new ones I got to supplement my existing mags before going downrange last year. $40 is insane -- though I suppose it will look very sane compared to prices after the fact if they do pass another mag capacity ban.

Under current market conditions expect to pay at least $30 per new-in-plastic 30 round magpul pmag.

Most seem to have been selling for $30-$50, and some for even more.

They used to go for $12-$14, on average, and as recently as Halloween a major online retailer had them for $10.42 with free shipping. Oh how I wish I bought more at that price.

It is seeming less and less likely that an actual AWB will be able to pass, but I am not as complacent about a "high cap" magazine ban. I hope we stave off all these ridiculous new anti-gun law but I think a magazine ban probably has the best chance of passing.

I would certainly not mortgage the house to buy PMAGs but if you can find them at even half way decent prices ($40 or less) I would not object to buying a couple.

Which is actually kinda sad. I don't want to see either, and I own several so called "assault weapons", but with so many handguns AND "assault weapons" taking mags in excess of 10 rounds I see a 10-round mag limit as having a much harsher effect on the everyday shooter. That effects almost everyone.

If you absolutely must have PMags and have them now, there's not much choice (online, at least) except to pay more. However, there are other mags available, from Bulgarian 40-rounders to MAKO E-Landers, at lower prices and - based on reviews and/or personal experience - that work just fine.

I look at that if you weren't smart enough to buy when they were cheap you're going to pay a lot more than a fair price.

I'm wondering if there will be a ban. There are an awful of gun owners and they're still going nuts buying. Remember, in numbers there is strength.

If I didn't have any AR mags, I would not hesitate to buy at the current market price. That's a lot better than having none, if they are once again outlawed, like during the '94-'04 AWB.

The shopping consumer determines the market price. I'm not in the market for magazines right now, but if I was I wouldn't pay more than $15 because my personal demand is low for that item.

It's a determination each of us has to make on an individual level.

It isn't always about being "smart enough". Some people might have recently got into this, or recently got into that type or rifle. Maybe they just became aware, maybe they just came of age, maybe they just finally got the money to do so.

I myself BARELY made it. I did not own a single firearm that would qualify under these silly bans as an "assault" anything until this summer. June, to be exact. I knew what I wanted but I simply could not afford it, so I didn't waste my money on anything else. I swore I would get an AR15 before Obama was elected in 2008. But I couldn't afford it, and boldly predicted and claimed that there would be no AWB or similar. I was right.

I finally afforded the rifle this summer. And some ammo. And some mags. And some spare parts. And some training. But not nearly as much of the ammo and mags as I would like. When you are spending thousands of thousands of dollars on one gun in one summer, there are limits.

I wish I had bought more PMAGs when they were cheaper. But I don't have a crystal ball, I couldn't predict that this would happen.

They normally go for about $18.

No they typically went for about that. Now they are regularly selling for much more. If one does not have a supply of mags they need to ask themselves whether they think a mag ban will go through or not. If yes, then it is worth paying what the going rate is now. If not then it is better to hold off and buy them when you can find them at MSRP.

Kinda. Its not just if a ban goes through or not, but also if you think a mag ban will go through within a given timeframe. Even if a ban does end up going through, if it takes till June with the magazine companies running at full-steam right now people will be satiated and supply caught back up to normal long before the ban takes place. I've seen several places taking backorders are pre-panic prices with an estimated wait/ship time of 6 weeks. I honestly think that even if anything did pass, it will take several months to hash out.
