Price of Pmags

Kinda. Its not just if a ban goes through or not, but also if you think a mag ban will go through within a given timeframe. Even if a ban does end up going through, if it takes till June with the magazine companies running at full-steam right now people will be satiated and supply caught back up to normal long before the ban takes place. I've seen several places taking backorders are pre-panic prices with an estimated wait/ship time of 6 weeks. I honestly think that even if anything did pass, it will take several months to hash out.

Maybe.

But I forsee ANOTHER spike in mag purchasing/ordering/backordering if and when a restrictive bill gets introduced, if and when it passes one half of legislature, and then if it gets signed the gap between signing and going into effect would be madness.

I doubt that this legislating hangs in pergatory for months and months. We will get a result from this round sooner rather than later.

By one report more than 500,000 AR magazines were available mid-December at the distributor level. There are none at present and it appears nearly every retailer is sold out.

Manufacturers most likely spent the holidays on shutdown and the first several weeks of January will be used for inventory. With announcements slated for Tuesday from the White House, I don't know that any manufacturers are ramping up production on an item that may that day become illegal to manufacture.

Either way, I wouldn't hold my breath especially with all of the back-ordered stock committed to folks already in line. Anything you find now may well be the last available at anything that approaches "only" 3X MSRP. As my parents left cross country last week I asked my dad to stop by any gun shops along the way to look for magazines and to buy all of them. I also asked him to reconsider whether he wouldn't like to own an AR to which he replied we'll see.

Magpul is working hard to churn out pmags

Well, if you REALLY need to get magazines right now, though they aren't PMAGs and are a couple ounces heavier than aluminum mags, these are available:

http://www.themakogroup.com/product_p/earm30 w.htm

ARFCOM discount code gets you a 5% discount. Over on AR15.com, people have generally indicated that they haven't had any problems with the springs, followers, etc. The followers are white because in Isreal (where these are made), the white follower makes it easier to visually check for an empty chamber, according to the site's owner from one post.

I ordered a couple just because they're in stock and different. Shipping was reasonable.

I have 4 Pmags already, was thinking about picking some more up, but I am willing to wait this thing out when they come back down in price.

Buy a few. I have plenty of Pmags and GI mags but if I needed a few mags I would pay the $40. Mind you people were paying $100 for Pmags on GB a few weeks ago.
Hindsight is 20/20 and Pmags will last you years.

If I didn't have Pmags, then I'd be buying for up to $50 at the moment.

I really think a "high-capacity" ban is coming.

Supposedly, and this is internet here-say, magpul has a million + backorders of pmags. If you can't find them locally at the overlooked local gun shop I doubt there is any hope of getting them any time soon.

I ordered (backordered) PMags from DSGArms.com last month -- they were shipped this week and should be delivered on Tuesday -- Prices was about $14/mag delivered.

It is not to late to backorder mags and hope for the best -- a reputable vendor will not charge till shipped so there really is no downside to backordering.
