Found a rifle for sale. It is a Winchester made ranger or some such. I take it that it is a Winchester made gun made for Sears, Western Auto or some such.

Looks like a Model 70 to me and it is in .270. Made in the USA? and not Japan or somewhere it seems.

Question is, how much LESS is it worth than if it were a true Win M70 all else being equal?

Thanks!

Not a store brand.
The Ranger model was introduced in 1983 as a less expensive version of the Model 70.

The only real changes were lower quality wood, a hidden magazine on the early ones (No hinged floor-plate), and a little less finish polishing.

They were kinda Winchesters version of the Remington ADL Model 700 as opposed to the BDL.

As for price?
They generally bring $450 - $500 on the gun auctions.

Push feed Winchesters don't bring that much locally. Around here $300-$350 for a walnut stocked PF model 70. About $100 less for the one of the budget versions.

Thanks. Helpful info. May pick it up for a grandson. Their "family caliber" is .270 and this fits right in.
