Prices for bulk 7.62x39 clearly lower than two months ago?

Either Aimsurplus or JGSales' Lowest base price, >> Before tax and shipping<<, for 1,000 rds. of Tula was up to $620/1,000 at that peak, was it not?o_O

Right now JGSales offers this quantity of Wolf for $499/1,000. Saw nothing about "sold out". Nothing.
Maybe my memory from November is bad (...just say "Your memory sucks, you old fart"). Several other distributors now have 500, 640 or 1,000-rd. cases available at similar prices per round, and even Brown Bear at $600 or so (per 1,000).

Some of us won't need to buy for quite a good while, but would like to replace some of what is recently used (>2,000 rds. enjoyed in the Czech VZ-58:cool:) when one sunny day down to, say $350 per.
Any trend will be interesting.

AT my LGS in Nov I was able to buy red army standard at $6/20 rounds. The same LGS 2 weeks ago had it by the case of 1,000 at $460.

FL_NC: Maybe it's a temporary trough between the waves of demand. Possibly a very recent boost in importation.

Were this to happen with .223, and last for several weeks, it could be a more solid indication.

*It might also be a slight calming reaction by people who nervously expected an Exec. Order from our New Dear Leader regarding guns (?).
They have been told to expect this, although they easily could have spent all their available ammo cash in November-December.

I don't know if prices are lower; I've watched one vendor move up incrementally, to where they are now at $499 a case; it wasn't that long ago that they were selling it at $400. But perhaps $499 is kinda the market price that leaves all sellers competitive, nobody is undercutting anyone and everybody can make their money. This place has been the consistent low-water mark for whatever they sell, since last April at least.

I will say this- I'm starting to receive email notices about this and other ammo prices from that vendor much more frequently. I used to get a notice about a "new price" or "deal", something that would sell out if I didn't go within an hour or so. Now I'm getting daily "we have ammo" emails from them, and the prices are the same... not lower, not higher, and most importantly not out of stock the next day.

I'm hoping that means the market is hitting a saturation point, where things are beginning to get stocked up at this seller, and not flying out like they had been. I'm watching for the next tell, which would be a drop back down some. Once I see downward movement, I'll then watch to see if it stays at that point. If it lasts awhile (a couple weeks maybe?) at the lower price, I would take it as a very good sign for us.

There’s a ton of “new” 7.62x39 ammo coming out from Vympel that uses corrosive primers they harvested from old ammo. It’s selling for around $0.40/round.

I have not noticed prices coming down at all. In fact I paid $.40 a round two months ago and now can't find it four under $.50. A year ago it was $.25 per round.

Bulk x39 has gone up. All ammo has. But if you can find it at a box store. It hasn’t gone up much. Maybe $1 per 20. It’s still a bargain.

A good friend of mine works at a pawn show. He had a guy come in the store today that had a picture he’d taken at a gun store in Arkansas. Hornady 6.5 Grendel for $127.99.....per 20.

I wonder how many bores that stuff is going to ruin on account of first time buyers not knowing the difference?

Oh, I don't know, that's kind of hyperbole, don't you think? I think of all the milsurps I've bought that were shot with corrosive ammo throughout their service lives that supposedly got "ruined" bores, but regardless still shoot just fine now after some rehabilitation. These "first time buyers" are likely to take better care of their rifles than the original owners of my milsurps. I think it's much ado about nothing.

If you can find it, buy it and shoot it.
