HI McLeod and friends, I just read the entire thread. I have a Pro1000. Its on a shelf now. I also went to the Lee Auto Prime seperately to reduce the pain of loading with this press. Everyone told me to get a Dillon. Of course I only heard them after I started reloading. In Lee's favor I find their dies are fine, even better than most. I digress. The Pro 1000 was sold me by a bullseye shooter who also sold me his pistols. He used the press for .45ACP for many years as the paperwork I received with it showed. But he is a retired engineer and the press had a couple of shims which only a technician would know about. I spent lots of time talking to Lee, and lots of time changing and fixing so that my Lee 1000 is now newer than when I got it. Its on the shelf.I've been paying more attention to the timing, and adjusting when it's off. Had the timing adjusted right the other night, but the primers still wouldn't feed. There's a scratch in the primer trough. I called Lee yesterday and the billed me for a new one. If the parts don't work well enough, the Dillon factory is only 90 minutes away.
Thanks. It went beyond powder and primers for me. I spent enough for a whole new gun that I could be reloading for.J_McLeod - I've felt your pain.
I had a Pro 1000 & just got so frustrated I boxed it up & set it in the corner.
Ended up selling it & getting a different brand.
For those of you who like the Pro 1000, I envy you!
I spent LOTS of powder, primer & bullet money on another press.
It brings a tear to my eye when I think of the supplies I could've gotten.
But I don't have anywhere near the frustration any more.
Stay safe my friends.
