I have one of these presses. Life is too short to fight with it constantly. I use it as a door stop and bought a Dillon 550B. The Lee is just to prone to jam ups and stoppages and wasn't worth the trouble. Just my .02 YMMV

I've been paying more attention to the timing, and adjusting when it's off. Had the timing adjusted right the other night, but the primers still wouldn't feed. There's a scratch in the primer trough. I called Lee yesterday and the billed me for a new one. If the parts don't work well enough, the Dillon factory is only 90 minutes away.
HI McLeod and friends, I just read the entire thread. I have a Pro1000. Its on a shelf now. I also went to the Lee Auto Prime seperately to reduce the pain of loading with this press. Everyone told me to get a Dillon. Of course I only heard them after I started reloading. In Lee's favor I find their dies are fine, even better than most. I digress. The Pro 1000 was sold me by a bullseye shooter who also sold me his pistols. He used the press for .45ACP for many years as the paperwork I received with it showed. But he is a retired engineer and the press had a couple of shims which only a technician would know about. I spent lots of time talking to Lee, and lots of time changing and fixing so that my Lee 1000 is now newer than when I got it. Its on the shelf.
So what happened? Well I got on eBay and saw a RL550 and started bidding. I think I paid almost as much as a new one, that's auction fever. Dillon treated me like a original new goods owner. I have never looked back. See my two Dillons on the pic thread.
We are looking to park ourselves in Oro Valley maybe, in 2012 perhaps. I will commiserate with you over Lee when we get there. Meanwhile 'keep your powder dry'. And keep reading, this internet forum thing has taught me most of what I know, since Kindergarten that is :)

The parts came from Lee today. Lee charged me for them, which I was not happy about, but at least they got here quickly. I spent about 45 minutes trying to get all the pieces of the shell plate carrier back together, but couldn't get it work right. They primer punch always kept the shell plate from rotating.

max it, If you do move to Oro Valley, let me know and we can go shooting or loading sometime.

Even though I've ordered a new press and plan to get rid of my pro1000 I've still been trying to get it working again. I've spent about 4-6 hours and lots of primers disassembling, cleaning reassembling and fiddling with it. Even called Lee, but that didn't help much. It feeds primers even when there is no case present, but when there is a case the punch doesn't go high enough to seat them. I've put the primer punch in both ways, tightened down the shellplate and carrier, and am using a new primer feed trough and case sensor clip. I'm at a loss for how to fix it.

J_McLeod - I've felt your pain.

I had a Pro 1000 & just got so frustrated I boxed it up & set it in the corner.
Ended up selling it & getting a different brand.

For those of you who like the Pro 1000, I envy you!
I spent LOTS of powder, primer & bullet money on another press.
It brings a tear to my eye when I think of the supplies I could've gotten.
But I don't have anywhere near the frustration any more.

Stay safe my friends.

Thanks. It went beyond powder and primers for me. I spent enough for a whole new gun that I could be reloading for.
