A page on Facebook is trying to organize a national pro 2A rally in every state's capitol.
I am trying to promote/organize the rally here in Michigan.

Here is the information on the Facebook page... http://www.facebook.com/events/406312512782872/?fref=ts
I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THIS GROUP. I just thought it was a great effort and am energized to do what I can to help us against this tidal wave of legislation that is coming at us.

For those in MI with me...
I have reserved the East side steps and sidewalk to the Capitol building between 10:00am and 12:00pm.
I am encouraging those willing to attend to construct a sign that you can hold.
We're going to be outside in February so prepare accordingly!

I am also trying to get together for lunch afterword somewhere near the Capitol for anyone that would like to join me.
I am not familiar with the area so if you have ideas, let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to consider this thread and the event.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments please voice them!

I am new to this and am open to what anyone has to say.

Unfortunately, these are two separate groups and two separate days.
The group I posted seems to have a slightly larger fallowing.

the feb 8 group sounds more doable, we need time to get the word out to the NRA etc. and get other groups behind it. Imagine 4 mill NRA, 1.8 Mill GOA etc (i know there is overlap) all showing up on one day.

I'm happy to drive the 3 hour roundtrip but i just don't want to be the only one.

Is there anyone who can get Wayne, Larry etc. on the phone and get them all behind one of these days?

I've emailed the NRA, Gun Talk and GOA so far. I thinking about getting a hold of some local papers and what not closer to the date.

I'm getting a lot of feedback here in MI from other gun owners and still have nearly a month to get more organized. I think we are going to have a great turn out.

how about shotgun news? anyone from their company on this BB?
If we can get the word out and even just 50% participation would make headlines coast to coast and put the political class on notice.

    Wrong location.
We should be marching on the offices of our Congressmen. The state capitol has nothing to do with federal law.
Your Congressmen will be glad your at the wrong address.

I'm going to Madison, Wisconsin on January 19th, and February 8th. I hope our numbers will impress those that disagree, with us.

I'm going. Its sad to me that a post bitching about attacks on our rights will get 10 pages and these ones get a couple dozen posts. Make your self heard people. Invite your like minded friends and family. It is important that these have a strong showing as they will attract media attention. A strong showing sends a statement, but so will a weak one.

I've been keeping the thread alive on my local forums. It's easier to do there.
But you're right. There is thread upon thread of people bitching and only a few who are standing up.

I've already gotten a few people to commit to coming and a couple other maybes. I still have a ways to go to get my goal of ten. Invite, invite, invite. Most of the people who were very enthusiastic to come had no idea the event was happening. Not all gun people or pro 2nd amendment people follow stuff online.

Well, here's an update on how it went if anyone is interested.
Weather the early morning of was terrible. A lot of people bailed. Took me a little over two hours to get there.
Was cold the WINDY. Around 120-150 showed.

That is me on the left.

Great pics. We had about 250 people show up in MN. I charged my camera battery the night before, and forgot to take it with me. I found a few pics on a local news website though. I'm the guy you can't really see holding the "shall not be infringed" sign.

Oh, cool, I didn't know anyone from our forum was there with us in Michigan. You even got a pic of me. I'm in like the 9th pic down, on the right, my sign is half hidden behind my wife. :) Then again in the 10th pic, on the left :)

We are planning on attending that one too.

I think next time I'm going to open carry my AR. We were both carrying but it was so cold, there was no chance of us opening our coats unless we actually needed to use them. Lol
