Pro-Mag's AK Polymer Mags?

I bought a few of the clear ones, the required quite a bit of filing to get the mould flashing off so they would snap into place. I like the idea of clear magazines, but I think I'm going to stick with the metal ones.
 
Why?

The surplus commie mags are steel, as cheap or cheaper, always work, and can double as hammers or jackstands.

I suppose if you wanted to do a pistol grip conversion without having to swap too many internal parts for 922(r) compliance?:confused:
 
I am in manufacturing. When possible ( if it is available and not junk ) I like to buy "MADE IN THE U.S.A".
 
Ok im going to sound like a dumbA** but how would they know if the parts haven't been changed to this rule they got unless they check your rifle and if they check your rifle wouldn't you had to do something bad for the gun Nazis to show you at your door?
 
For plastic mags, I'd stick with the Bulgie waffles that can double as truck chocks. They're tough.

ProMag = jam-o-matic for just about everything they've ever made. For range fun, maybe. For SHTF disaster, never.
 
If you want Made in the USA, why are you shooting an AK? That just don't make sense. :)

I have tried Pro-mag pistol mags and one M14 mag. They were substandard in quality. They worked well enough to range shooting, but I would depend on them.

Really, the former combloc mags are the ones to get if you want cheap and reliable. Kvar.com sells polymer Bulgarian mags that work well.
 
MechAg94, today's AK purchases ARE made in the USA. Well sorta-mostly, since they are assembled in the USA by real USA-ans using no more than 10 of the "specified" overseas-manufactured parts.

I know. I was just surprised you didn't have an AR or a mini-30 or something. :)
 
I have to admit I tried Pro-Mag in the past and with almost every mag I tried I had jamming issues. The only ones IMO that are worth a damn are the ones they make for the Bersa .380 Thunder

Many AKs are built overseas. Once they get here someone swaps out parts and mills out the mag-well. Americans dont build anything, unless its an arsenal SA series, or a kit build on a US reciever.

As for the pro-mags, no, I've never used them. They cost more and they are less reliable. If you want a good AK mag buy a surplus one for well under $10. If you want the best buy a bulgarian waffle mag. When US made stuff is the same quality I'll buy them.
