To anyone interested, I just finished listening to the latest ProArms Podcast, which covers the 357 SIG cartridge.
To those of you new/interested in the cartridge, it makes for some interesting listening-stream or download at the link above.

"We're Getting the Band Back Together" to discuss the .357SIG cartridge
It’s been a long time since we had the whole Band together, this time we have everyone but Mike (he was up “nort”) to discuss our experiences with the .357SIG cartridge. The topic was by listener request. Learn how many state police departments have adopted it, why it can be an ideal personal protection round in rural areas, and why some of our podcast team members carry that caliber daily.

I love the .357 SIG

I came across an amazing deal on a M&P full size .357 sig with night sights for under $400 in NEW condition and although i wasn't too sure of that round, a factory M&P .40 barrel works with the same mag and is literally drop in for $40!!!!!!!!

I then started researching .357 Sig and did some of my own performance/ballistic testing and i am a full convert!...

Other than the .45, id rather have .357 sig over any other semi pistol caliber ive come across.

Interesting results reported with the cartridge-while helping eradicate water moccasins during a recent outbreak, they stated they noticed 357 SIG was the only round that did not require a direct hit to kill 'em-think they said up to 'bout 2 inches from 'em in water would do the job.
They also reported the Richmond VA police (first agency with 12 reports of shootings) reported a surprising number of stops with hits in non-critical areas.

That ought to open up a whole can o' worms! :D

If it hit only the water, then supposedly kinetic energy must be what killed the snakes, right? Well, a typical 125 grain .357 SIG load has about the same energy as a 155 grain .40 S&W load or 200 grain .45 ACP+P load, so why wouldn't they have the same effect? (supposing for the sake of argument)

Were there severe injuries to critical areas that were not actually hit, or were these otherwise just stops? If it's the latter, then the stops must have been psychological in nature. Without more detailed information, these are just anecdotes with a very small sample size.

Hey, I don't make the news, I just report it! :D

You'll have to listen to the Podcast to get their take on it.

FWIW, Ayoob said after viewing results of 357 SIG in ballistic gellatin, lots of folks thought this round just ain't gonna work. Based on what they're finding in the field, Ayoob say's he's had to eat some crow AFA his initial views on the cartridge.

Sounds like a number of the folks at ProArms are convinced-from the sound of it, there's quite a few of 'em using the 357 SIG as their SD round these days.
