This is my second Dillon 550B. The first one I've had was sold 5 years ago when I thought that I will stop with the shooting hobby. I got myself another 550B to focus except for one problem. After everything was set up again, the part that slides and re-primes the shells doesn't work. It's good that after loading 5 rounds I noticed that I don't have primers in my bullets. I double checked. I have primers in the primer tube and using the right size of primer. What could have gone wrong? Thanks for the inputs.

Make sure that the slide is working free, and check for a stuck primer in the tubes. The primer system on that machine is really reliable, and simple to get up and running;)

I've had Dillon products since the 440 came out.
Lots of Dillion blue bolted to my reloading bench.

If you have ANY problems, call Dillon. The folks there can answer your questions in a heart beat. And if necessary, send you the parts to fix your problem.

Their guarantee is absolutely "No Bull****".

Can ya tell I'm a fan?

take a flashlight and see if a primer is hiding in the innards, preventing the slide from going all the way back..it only takes a piece of a primer to prevent full travel and good operation.

.....and make sure you don't have a small pistol charge bar combined with a large pistol feed tube. +1

Also, make sure there isn't a spent primer that dropped in fron of the primer feed bar that prevents it from coming all the way forward.

man in the time it took you to post this the Dillon guys would have you loading again they're great I've got a AT500 converted to 550 and they helped me converting it and even pointed out that buying a 450 to 550 conversion kit gave me what I needed for less money I am also a fan

Thanks for your inputs guys. I'll do those things in a jiffy. Regards to everyone.

Also check the primer cup height to be sure you assembled it correctly. Too high will give you the same problem.

The primer cup was a tad high on mine when I got it. Took about 100 rounds of hit and miss before it finally crushed the little plastic tip on the primer tube. Adjusted the cup, replaced the tip, works great!!!

Also make sure the surfaces the primer slide travels between are nice and clean. Some rubbing alcohol does the trick. Junk from expired primers can cause the slide to stick.
