Problem reinserting yugo sks trigger assembly

I just bought a Yugo SKS. I disassembled and clean it but when I tried to put it back together but I couldn't get the trigger assembly back in. The front end goes in near the magazine but the back end won't pop in.

Any suggestions?

I've had the same problem. The little spring back there can be quite stiff. Try more pressure--if you have to, push in the little metal button with a screw driver or awl to give you less of a hard time.

This is the right answer. Feel free to apply plenty of force or to use a tool to push that little button. Rarely does it snap together easily, and it's a little better if it doesn't- that means it won't come out easily either.

When my cousin first bought his yugo he had a hard time with this exact part,but a good amount of force solved the problem.Remeber soviet designs are not as refined as an american design so some force is a good thing when dealing with soviet weapons.

I always place the rifle on something hard, and then slam it in with the heel of my hand. Just don't do it on the dining room table, because the wife will get mad.Trust me. I know.

Yep,the same thing happened to me last month...took the rubber mallet,and viola...back in it went!Hold it down with one hand as far as it will go first then whack it one with a gentle force first to guage what you need to get it 'click back on right'.:banghead:

Yup, and its not just the Yugo's either.My Russian and my Norinco are both REALLY hard to depress that button on....
Big 'ol Phillips screwdriver works best for me (for taking apart, putting it back in, just slamming it with my hand works best, but it hurts, an I'm too cheap to buy a mallet for just this...).Be careful using a screwdriver though, I have nearly stabbed my thigh a couple times, and I'm willing to bet it would have hurt pretty good......

All the trigger groups on my current SKSs go on by putting the rifle in my lap and giving the trigger gaurd a good smack the the palm of my hand. I did have a Norinco Para that a mallet to get every thing on and off including the gas tube.

I've experienced the same deal. I'm sure a mallet would work, but I find that it also works quite well if you just sort of squeeze the assembly into the rifle between your hands. Just put the rifle between your hands and flex your pecs while sort of interlocking your fingers. It takes some strength but is a little smoother and much more dignified than the mallet trick. If you can't get it to work, yeah, pound on it with a hammer
