Problem with Lee dies in Hornaday L-N-L?

I've heard that Lee dies may be too short to use in the Hornaday Lock-N-Load progressive press. If you have experience with this, please clarify, noting what specific Lee dies you are using...

Also, what do you need, other than dies, to convert to another cartridge, and the cost? I see shellplates are $23.50 from Midway...
