I have used my Dillon Eliminator scales for many yeas with no problem. When I went to use it yesterday I couldn't get it to zero without increasing the scale to read 4 grains. Note that dust and dirt do not appear to be and issue because I store the scale in a clean plastic storage box with the lid closed tight. The box is big enough so the scale does not touch the sides or the top of the box. Any ideas on why the change in zero?

The Dillon Eliminator is the same as any similar beam balance scale
Make sure the agate pivots (bearings) are clean and free of any grit. When at zero they become a very sensitive point. Zero is a function of leveling, is the scale absolutely level on its work surface? There is really not much which can go wrong with a scale like this.

<EDIT> Should worst come to worst your scale is about the same as the RCBS 5-0-5 scale which is on sale (close out) at Midway for $39.99.

RCBS Model 505 Magnetic Powder Scale 511 Grain Capacity.

</EDIT>

Sounds like the same problem I had with mine years ago. Contact them and they will fix it for free, you just pay shipping. I wish I could find the email they sent to me explaining the problem, it was a real technical explanation but I don't believe it had to do with anything being dirty
