I was looking over my new retirement gift a pre 27 357 looking at all the numbers on it with a flash light, and the number on the yoke is 20450, and the number on the frame there the cylinder locks is the same 20450.
The number were the extractor rod locks back in under the barrel is S102*** The serial number on the bottom of the butt S102***.
Do I have a problem with the numbers?

The "20450" number is referred to as an "assembly number." It is used to mate the major assemblies during production. It's separate from the s/n and that is how it was done. No problems.

You should also be able to look under the ejector star (press the rod, and look backwards down the gun and under the star) and find the s/n repeated on it, also. It will also appear, minus the "S" prefix, under the right grip panel if the grips are original.

Retirement presents, especially pre-model N-frames, require photos on this forum. ;)

Oro..I put a pic up a few days ago, it must be on the next page. It's a great gun for sure. I'm fixing to order some good products to help keep it in fine shape.
I was thinking about carrying it in a hostler, but the hostler would wear the bluing off, and I don't want that.
I think I will shoot it some and just get a rug for it. Thanks for the info. that makes me feel much better...lol
