So I bought a Taurus 92 from a guy, it broke, ended up selling it back to him for less than I paid. He fixed the broke part, lost two springs and the grip screws. As messed up as this is, I'm going to buy it back for less than I sold it to him for.

I can replace the grip screws for 4.50 each. However, I can't find the springs anywhere. Not even Numrich has them. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I could go about finding those springs? My town only has one gunsmith, and he's completely dishonest so I'd rather not go through him.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Numrich does indeed sell any part for a Taurus 92.

Check this exploded view, check the part number for each and every part, then see the price on the chart. Grip screws are 2.95 each.

EDIT: I mean no disrespect, but you may wish to consider going to a gunsmith in a neighboring town. It sounds to me that perhaps your own gunsmithing, as well as your friend's might be left to a professional.

If not, then take your time, use the proper tools (no hammer or Dremel), along with the exploded diagrams, instructions, and an armorer's guide. Place your work inside a shallow cardboard box so that you don't lose any small parts.

If all else fails, bag it all up and go to http://www.taurususa.com/main/repair-policy-use.cfm

The warranty is for the life of the firearm, not the original purchaser.

Well, yeah, Numrich "sells" them, they just haven't had any in stock for the last few months. I called some place in Texas that an out of town gunsmith gave me, and they don't have the parts.

The problem is, even the out of town gunsmiths are telling me they can't really get these springs. This seems strange to me, that no one has these springs. I'd be happy to send it to Taurus but it seems silly for me to pay to ship the gun there, back, and pay for parts and labor, all for two silly little springs and some grip screws.

*** Just a thought, but the Taurus 92 is a Beretta 92 clone, are their triggers, and magazine release's set up the same? Could I just get these springs from Beretta?

I've had three calls (and voice mails) in to Taurus over the last three weeks, and no reply. If I understand correctly, one spring is for the trigger assembly (not sure which one) and the other is the spring that attaches to the magazine release switch.

I'm almost considering just keeping it for spare parts, the only thing is, I don't really like the gun that much to begin with.
