I own 2 REM .22 autoloaders. The oldest is a 550-1 that shoots S,L, & LR. Was my Grandfather's. The other is a 552 Speedmaster.

The 550-1 does not feed so well. Any where from round 2 to round 7 or so, an arbitrary misfeed. The round seems to be stuck at the incline as it attempts to ramp into chamber.

The 552 Speedmaster has something broken internally. When you work the action knob on the L side of rifle so as to slide the action open, the action will not move....broken, disconnected.

Gunsmiths are as rare as hen's teeth around here. I'd gladly get it shipped to someone who might fix these two.

Best regards, All.

Wolff likely has the cure for your 550-1's woes at this address, for $11.99 and shipping. Be sure and give it a good cleaning and lubing when you have it disassembled for spring replacement.

I'm not too keen on the 552 Speedmaster models.

Possible gunsmith for this repair.

You might try the gunsmith over at Ozark Gun Trader in Missouri. The gentleman in question has been making a living for over thirty years as a smith. He has probably fixed several hundred examples of these guns over the years. The phone number for the shop is (417) 581-8829.
