Hello there, I have recently traded for a Tracker in .17HMR and after a thorough inspection noticed a couple of things that might be an issue. At first glance I spotted some small places that I believe to be surface rust or some other type of stain. Upon further inspection I noticed a couple more possibly serious issues. 1) To the right of where the hammer seats itself there seems to be a crack in the frame. I'm not to familiar with revolvers and I don't know if this is normal or not. :banghead:

2) The screw that holds the cylinder release is marred and tends to rattle like something is not right internally. Like I said, I am not familiar with revolvers especially the Taurus Tracker and may be over reacting but if not is there a way to fix this or will Taurus fix/trade it as part of the lifetime warranty? All info is greatly appreciated and thanks for your help ahead of time.

1) The "crack" appears to be just the mating line where the sideplate and the frame meet, perfectly normal if it is. The gap might be a little larger than normal but it is probably ok, do you have any clearer pictures?

2) It looks like someone damaged the screw slot with an improper screwdriver, could you elaborate on the noise?

Im sure someone will be by shortly with better answers than these...

I found the rattling to be the transfer bar after a little trial and era. As far as the pics all I have is my trusty old phone. Let me play with the light and angle a bit and maybe I can get something worth a flip out of it.

I think this is as good as the pics are gonna get.

thats kinda what I figured but I didn't know if it was supposed to do it when uncocked also. ( if that makes any sense)

Crack in frame is the side-plate.
It comes off to put the guts inside.

Transfer bar rattle is perfectly normal, as is some looseness in the thumb latch.

The only real problem I see is the buggered latch screw from some jackass using a wallyworld screwdriver on it..

That actually sounds great to me due to the fact that it can be replaced. If it was something bad wrong I would have been slightly p.o.'d. Thanks for your help guys. Now, anyone heave a magical way to get the surface rust off without compromising the finish?
