While I am not in favor of this Bill this is breaking news so it is only fair to post it for those who haven't heard. There are limited sources reporting this at the moment. The only link I can find is to a Greenville area radio station. http://www.1063word.com/articles/procedural-rule-invoked-bill-would-allow-carrying-firearms-without-permit-south-Carolina

The short version is the Bill's sponsor, in a surprise move, invoked cloture on this Bill which effectively limits further debate and moves the Bill closer to a vote.

SC concealed carry laws contain legally enforceable No Concealed Carry signs to be posted by business owners. I can't think of a faster way to get these signs posted in more places than passing a law that allows for permitless open carry. I recognize this is a personal opinion but I stand by it. Flame On!

Maybe, maybe not. Wyoming has had "constitutional carry" since 2011, but the law here also has a similar provision for business owners. Even so, the only places I have seen those signs were at the local shopping mall, the hospital, and one movie theater. Other than that, most of the local businesses here really don't seem to be worried about people carrying, open or concealed. And this being a gun-friendly state, I'm sure many business owners realize that posting those signs would likely cost them customers. South Carolina is similarly gun-friendly, so it would probably be no different there.

I've even heard about this guy who open carries an AK at the Starbucks downtown. He has gotten a bit of criticism and some attention from the police in the past, but nothing serious. Seems that most people aren't terribly worried about him.

The SC legislature passed "Restaurant Carry" a couple of years ago. I immediately saw No Concealed Carry signs on doors that previously did not display them because the local libs went door to door encouraging store owners, especially restaurant owners, to post the signs. Yes I could simply boycott those stores but I liked it better when I could carry AND frequent those stores. Don't ask, Don't tell (or show) works for me.

It has not happened in my part of Kansas. Perhaps the Jaywalkers around Kansas City can comment on what has happened there.

I have family that lives in San Antonio, Texas. I did see signs posted prohibiting OPEN Carry only. Conceal Carry was permitted in their place of business.

Seen open carry in a number of different states. Never minded much. I don't think I even stop to consider whether it is legal in a given state. I make sure my family and I are legal and more scope out people I spot carrying in a sense of threat assessment rather than legality. Usually from their bearing and manner, they are pretty responsible folks.
