What is the best procedure for initial adjustment of a AO target scope. I have read that the parallax scales on some AO scopes are not necessarily accurate. Also, what is the proper way to adjust the eyepiece. Some people say to adjust the eyepiece until the reticle is sharp while others say to adjust the eyepiece until the target is clear/in focus.

To focus eyepiece, point rifle toward the sky or a white wall a few yards away. Unscrew the eyepiece 4-5 turns, then slowly screw back in while glancing into the eyepiece (do not stare through the scope while turning as the eye will adjust to the gradual change). When scope is adjusted to your eye, the crosshairs will appear black & sharp. Lock the lockring.

AO adjustment: Set the paralax ring at the range you plan to shoot (100, 200 yds, etc.) Then place the rifle on bench rest and move your head from side to side and up/down while holding rifle steady on the bullseye. You should see no apparent "movement" of the crosshairs on the bull. If movement is detected, adjust the AO first one way and then the other until all movement is eliminated. Lock the lockring.

Regards,
hps
