I am frustrated and hope someone can offer some help. I have a G34 that I use in IDPA SSP and USPSA Production. I am , so far unsuccessfully, for a gunsmith in Michigan (SE but will travel outstate) that will do production custom work on this gun. Found one in Georgia that will do production customer but I would rather stay at home. I have a 1911 smith who is great but does not do Glocks. What I would like is installation of Sivigney Competition and FO sights with accuracy test firing, true competition trigger job (2.5 lbs or so), match barrel fitting, maybe slide and magwell work. The guys at the gun stores just stare at me. I know a lot of people do work themselves on a Glock but I am not comfortable, nor do I have the time, to do this. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you.

If you want to get a Glock optimized for Production, send it to a Glock IDPA or USPSA specialist. As for triggers and sights, the sights can be installed by any competent gunsmith. Glockworx makes a drop-in trigger assembly that will run at 2# right out of the box. Be careful though, Vanek triggers and Glockworx are being scrutinized by USPSA rule makers. They are playing with the idea of minimum trigger pull weights and other ideas.

I shoot in SouthEast MI as well. I do all my own work on a glock and it really isnt that difficult.

I believe Doug Jones does work on glocks. http://www.acc-u-rail.com/

The sights are a must and the Sevigny's are the way to go. As far as the trigger, less is more. Reliability is the primary focus on a competition gun. However, there are many things that can be done on a glock to really improve the feel of the trigger and keep the reliability.

My competition glocks have nothing more than a polish job, Ghost Connector and an extra power trigger spring. These you can do yourself in less than an hour for about $30.

If you shoot IDPA and USPSA around SE MI, I probably have shot with you or have seen you around. Send me a PM and introduce yourself. I may be able to help you out with your work as well, I keep alot of spare parts on hand.

USPSA has already decided not to deal with minimum pull weights, its a dead issue. final answer.
and only one kind of vanek trigger is not allowed in production.

if you must send it out...send it to Charlie Vanek..Charlie can set up the sights, do a really sweet trigger.

Charlie set up a G34 for me..1.5# trigger and Dawson sights. I sent it out on Monday..and it was back on Wed.

I've done all of that to my G35. I used a Ghost Rocket connector and I do use the Warren/Sevigny sights. It's truly not difficult if you're mechanically inclined.

I wound up with a trigger in the mid 2s, virtually no reset, but smooth to the point of having almost no break. Once you're used to it, it runs like greased lightning (I like it better than the Vanek drop in units, but have never compared it to a Vanek custom trigger job).

The sights? Heck, buy a punch set, a file, and a 3/16" thin wall socket. It takes about 3 minutes.
