Proof that Ca's DOJ is working with the anti-gun front ?

LAR-15: I wouldn't be surprised if those on "our side" made that website - that was a tactic discussed on Calguns a while back... namely: make a site demanding that the guns get listed so that those of us with OLLs would have the (required) 90 day window to register them.

Frankly, I could see it backfiring, but... one wonders.

Oh Jim!
Be sure to keep a clean copy for State and Fed atorney generals or whoever does the best in enforcement. Sound like they have a habit of bending agreements and rules to suit themeselves.

Wow that was so much nicer to say than what I thought up from reading the docs.

So why won't Lockyer list them and declare them 'assault weapons'?

Isn't that what the emails are about?

Because that will give many people (like me) exactly what we want. If they declare them AWs, then everyone who owns one will get a chance to register. Now thousands of people will legally own registered AWs that can have all the evil features in the world.

But at the same time the recievers can no longer be imported to CA any more.

That's correct.. BUT, like I said if the AG decides to list, then everyone gets just what they wanted. If he doesnt ban them, everyone is stuck with gimped rifles that have fixed-magazines or no pistol-grip. The AG knows that the vast majority of gun owners are law-abiding citizens, so even if they decide not to ban receivers, everyone is still bound by SB23 (features ban)

I guess people gun owners like me who want them banned are just being selfish.
The thinking is, "I got mine, screw everyone else"

I just want a fully functional, legal, AR-15. It doesnt look like it's gonna happen though.. Due to AB2728, After Jan 1, 2007, the AG will no longer be able to list any new AWs. So unless they decide to change their mind in the next month, it looks like everyone is gonna be stucked with gimped rifles :(

LAR-15, that's exactly what we want

The law is so poorly written that it requires individual listing of each Lower by name. Anybody who has the ability to manufacture these items can legally do so and provide them for sale. If they list the current makers of Lowers come January then nothing is to stop other firms from taking advantage of this loophole. There are numerous holes in this dyke and the DOJ is running out of fingers. It's been great fun watching the whole thing unravel. I'm certain we have a ways to go yet, but we now have the upper hand.

CalGuns is small, but has accomplished much.

But at the same time the recievers can no longer be imported to CA any more.

Yes, that's CORRECT. And that's FINE because then manufacturers would just change the product name and stamping and they would be able to sell it again. It's a ban on a list of product names. How long does it take a manufacturer to change a product name? NOT VERY LONG! So the ideal would be if the AG lists all the current receivers that people have imported, and then those people can go ahead and build them out with the evil features, and then the manufacturers (within a few days or weeks) would change their product names and the cycle would start over. That would render the AWB completely meaningless. Unfortunately the AG is not doing his job and he is not listing. And now the CA leg. has passed a law taking away his power to list (effective 2007). So, unless Lockyer has a personality transplant within the next 5 weeks, none of those lowers will ever be listed and they can never be built out with evil features.

If you think it through, listing is a win for everyone. Lockyer would even benefit because there would be more guns in the registry and under his authority, and the DoJ would get the reg fees. But he is mentally fixated and non-rational in this area.

Well, if these e-mails and other info are the tip of the iceberg I think they are and CA Gunowners can bring it to the Attention of the Proper Authorities (the ones that actually do their jobs) it just may end up being the Iceberg that Sunk the Titanic (AKA: the Braidy Camp)

In the mean time I still Class CA as a Sinking Ship...

From those emails, we can see that they're clearly working with anti-gun groups to enact new regulations and/or legislation.

Im wondering if that's even legal..

What difference would it make? We've known for a long time that our overlords are above the laws. They will never be held accountable for breaking them. Heck, they're barely making any effort at this point to hide their violations... they simply don't care, because they know nothing will ever happen to them.
