Just bought a pound of this for my 9mm. It is sooo clean and uses a light charge so that makes it economical too. Loving it so much gonna try it in the 45.

I use HP-38 in .380 ACP, 9MM Luger, 9MM Makarov,38 Special, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. I bough it initially because my Speer Manual had it listed for pretty much everything I was planning to reload for at the time. I first bought Winchester 231 which is the same as HP-38, and after I ran out of that I saved a few bucks on the HP-38. The only other powder I've used so far has been Blue Dot in my 357 Sig loads which I have not yet shot.

Meters very well in my dillion, HP-38/win 231 are fantasic target powders in the 45 acp. If your looking for full power, there might be better powders out there. 5.0gr of hp-38/win 231 under 200gr of lead cycles everything I have ever put it through and is accurate too!

HP-38/231 is the most versatile powder for handgun loading out there & fairly position insensitive .

Everytime I go to the LGS someone just purchased the last # of it , 1 time I even seen a patron walking out with it !!

Bullseye and W-231 are probably the most universal of pistol powders. I tend to use WSF for my 9mm loads and WST or American Select for my 45 ACP loads.

How well does it meter for you guys?
I'm looking for a new .45acp powder. (target loads)
It meters well in just about anything that drops powder.

I'll also echo the responses of others and say that I have worked up my best/accurate bullet/powder combinations using W231/HP38 in 9mm and 45ACP.

Once I run out of Unique and Bullseye I plan on giving it a try. Good to hear so much positive feedback about it.

It's a great and versatile powder IF you don't load on the light side. At low power factors, it shoots fine, but very sooty in 9mm. I mean VERY sooty.

It was the first powder I bought when I started reloading .38 spl. It is one of the best for .38s. Then I got a 9mm and figured out I can use it with that and it works well.

In 9mm, it is good for lighter loads but hits max pressure before you get high velocities. For plinking loads it is great.

I've hear it is wonderful in .45, but I don't have one...yet. I'll hopefully get a 1911 this year. I've already been picking up the range brass.

W231 has replaced Unique and Bullseye in light 357 and 45 loads for me. Coincidently, 5gr of 231 shoots well in my 357 with 158 hard cast SWCs and also the 45 with 200gr SWCs. No more messing with powder measure settings!
It also does well for light 44 Mag loads.

I started reloading with HP-38 for 45ACP. Read a lot of good things about it especially when it came to metering. I've since started reloading for 9mm and it suits me very well.
