Maybe comparing these 2 specific brands is kinda silly, but for me they are similar. Maybe hso can shed some light on the matter as to which is 'more' collectable and/or 'better' made. If both are equal, works for me too! Just ordered my first Protech.... Protech Doru Skull #1

Depends upon what the specific model is as to what's more "collectable".

Any early MT is more collectable compared to a PT, but there are specific PTs that are every bit as collectable as a lot of MTs.

In general I would say they don't have much in common. Protech's average price point is quite a bit lower, and they specialize in side-openers. Microtechs are generally more collectable and most of their models are out-the-front autos.

IMO Protech makes the best user ots autos on the market. They're affordable, simple, reliable and well built. Their customer service is also better than MT. For otfs and collectability I think the field goes to MT as your average Protech just isn't very collectable. Even those like the special editions with the skulls will only appeal to a select crowd. That being said some of their DA ots and special edition Godfathers can bring a pretty penny. Quality-wise I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Got the Skull Protech Doru today. One of the few cases where in hand is much better than the photo. Blade opens fast with authority. One of the sharpest out of the box I ever got. Goes through thin catalog paper 95% without hesitation. Highly recommended. My serial is around 300, only 400 will be made. This knife just oozes quality.
