Psl-54c?

Anyone have any experience with this rifle? Reliable? Accuarte?
I'm interested since it looks like a reasonable fascimile to a Dragunov for 1/6 of the price.

Dragunov--Short stroke piston.
PSL--a big AK. Long-stroke piston.

Many, many accuracy and construction differences.

I'm aware that it's not a replica, but it looks enough like the real thing for me. And since a real dragunov runs in the several thousands, well you get the idea.
So I guess accuracy wouldn't exactly be superb but acceptable.

Would it be worth $700?

They are worth $700. They can shoot pretty good for what they are.

Some examples will shoot 1.5" while most will shot 2-3" groups at 100yrds. The thin long barrel will tend to heat up fast unless you allow it to cool between shots. They tend to string shots vertically due to this condition.

I had one for a while but it didn't do it for me. I sold and bought an M1 Garand and couldn't be happier!

It is what it is. I shot a friends once and was hitting clays at 100 yards. Plenty accurate enough for plinking and it gets a lot of looks at the range. I'd like one, but can't really justify a "need" for it right now.

Also, ammo is cheap.

I have one. Nice rifle. I converse frequently with owner's of both rifles. By this I mean they own one of each. Those who do, will tell you they have nearly the same performance. Take a look over at dragunov.net. and surf around at akfiles. I'll admit A PSL looks pretty crappy next to an SVD. but the price tag makes them pretty good. PSL, around 700 or 800 bucks. SVD oh.....4,000 bucks give or take. And tho the rifle may look rough, they are extremely durable. Willy is right, if ya get on it too fast they string shots. I put around 15 seconds between shots and shoot five round heats.
Allot of these guys knock this gun for being a Kalashnikov design. Funny most experts agree, the Kalashnikov probably the most successful combat rifle design in history. Take in to consideration, The design is from 1947 and is still in use today.
In My honest opinion, the biggest problem most have with this rifle is the cheep surplus ammo sold here is military machine gun ammo. Steel core FMJ unbalanced crap. We see @ 2.5 MOA. Mass produced Russian 7n14 will get @ 1- 1.5 MOA. I am working on loading a truly matched round. I think We will see better results.
