PT-111 question(range test)

i just traded for a pt-111 millenium 9mm
i was told by the person i got it from that randomly the slide will lock open on a non empty mag...he says all he does is to push the slide lock release and it closes and fires...anyone heard of this?..i havent actually fired it yet to see exactly whats happening, just got it this morning

I own a PT-111, and haven't ever had that problem (in fact, I've had no problems with the gun, period: shot everything I put in it, accurate enough for gummint work, etc...very nice little gun).

It may be unique to that gun (something interfering with the slide release--defective magazine, for instance), or even possibly the shooter's hand pushing upward on the release (though that seems unlikely, given where the release is).

has two mags....does it with both....i will shoot it tonight and see if i can tell whats happening...will post more details tomorrow

okay, just shot it...about every 5 or 6 shots...the next round to feed seems to jamb at the top of the barrel throat...was using fmj ammo...any ideas?

Do you mean the nose of the round is jamming against the "ceiling" of the chamber? Could be that the chamber needs cleaning.

I assume you didn't end up with any of the mysterious locking open on a non-empty mag malfunctions? Or is the feed problem the same one you were referring to earllier?

you are correct, the nose of the round is jamming into the celing of the barrel...no slide lock issues yet...gonna clean it very well and try some different ammo tomorrow
