Decided a 9mm 1911 was in order and through a trade this one ended up in my hands. I must say, I'm impressed. The finish isn't the greatest but the function is outstanding. Only issues I had were completely due to one of the magazines needing a little tune-up on the feed lips as a few feed issues were attributable to this. The full size/weight of the 1911 makes 9mm very easy to control. Nearly every handgun I shoot goes a bit low and left so I know it is me and not the gun. Plus I was shooting light loaded 115gr LRN cast bullets.

While I'm no Taurus fanboy, I have owned quite a few, considering myself quite un-bias as I have S&W, Glock, Colt, Ruger - plenty of flavor. Only things I tend to stay away from are Remington and Kimber - go figure. I'd give the PT-1911 in 9mm two thumbs up for anyone looking for a 9mm in that platform.

My alternate choice was going to be a Rock River because they have a Commander size. Pleased with my decision.

Does Taurus make their own magazines or are they provided by others ? Have you tried non-Taurus 9mm 1911 magazines ? Any issues ?
Too bad they do't made an adjustable sight model. Wonder if there is one made for the Taurus 1911
I have been thinking about a Taurus 9mm 1911 for Action pistol shoots....

I just picked up a 9mm 1911, as well. I agree, the size and weight make it super easy to shoot. I can rapid fire a 9 round mag into an inch and a half group at 7 yards if I try.

Most likely, some adjustable sights will end up on mine. I haven't tried any other mags except the 2 that came with it. Time to clean...

The PT-1911s (including in 9mm) are known for shooting a bit low out of the box, including my PT-1911 9mm. Novak has adjustable rear sights for them, call or email them and they'll tell you which one to order (I'm about to call my order in).

I also picked up an aftermarket barrel bushing from Evolution Gun Works for mine, and the groups tightened up from about a 3" group to a 1" group at 7 yards.

Here's the link to the barrel bushing if you're interested:

The size I bought was .703" OD and .5795" ID.

Those are direct kin to the Taurus PT92. Let's put it this way. The 911s are cousins more than direct kin.
