An update on the repair of the .45 sent back to Taurus for a warrenty issue of a broken extractor. I sent it in the middle of Apr. They informed me that they recieved it and said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to repair and i could check the status of repair by calling the toll number. Called them at 4 weeks to check on progress. They told me they were working on it, nothing else. I asked them if they had a toll free number and they gave it to me. There was no toll free no. on thair letterhead. Called them at 6 weeks and was informed they were working on it and to have patience. Got it back after 7 1/2 weeks repaired. So far so good. My personal opinion is that there repair service stinks Has anyone else had a similar experience with them?

Taurus seems to be extremely hit or miss...

How many rounds have you fired since it's been back?

Well, I don't know that their work itself is bad necessarily, I've only used them once and they did fix the problem exactly as they should have.

The biggest problem I see is their communication with their customers - no help on the phone, no updates, no explanations, just that they received it and are working on it, etc. but no real answers. They don't convey any confidence to their customers that they are being taken care of, even though they probably are. I tried to call a couple of times while my revolver was there in Miami and got similar responses as you did. I was irritated, but decided to forget about it and after 6 weeks the gun just showed up at my house fixed.

I still like their products, but their service certainly has room for improvement.

It takes about a minute and a half to replace an extractor on a 1911.

That true and if you buy a Wilson or Brown Will never need another . With Taurus factory will be doing again .
Learn to make minor repairs and save time . Buy quality parts and replace once.
I have had 2 out of 3 Taurus I bought go bad I stopped buy them.

That's just not true. Wilson extractors aren't unbreakable magic objects. 1911 extractors break, and I don't care who makes them. It's a very easy fix, and a fairly common one.

That isn't to say that all extractors on every pistol will break. In my entire life, I have had one extractor on one firearm break, but I am pretty lucky.

Brazilian company, they would rather watch the World Cup than fix your pistol. Actually pretty average turn around time, hope they got it right the second time.

Did'nt know that till now.Next time (hope never)I'll do just that.
IFISHSUM echo's my problem exactly.
As a aside, 1961, basic training Fort Dix, Dec. While on the range shooting pop up's with my International Harvester M 1 Garand the Extractor, elector, AND fireing pin all dissapiered from the rifle at the same time after the last shot. The armorer told me that is what happened. Great weapon.
